0.54 posts per day. Not too much of an impact. Okay, so not any impact at all. But I have fun. Usually.
According to my stats, I post 3-4 times a day, but that’s including several long sabbaticals.
I don’t get involved in debates much, mainly because I’m not really much of a confrontational poster, but also because the roughly 12-hour time difference between me and most of the US means that the heat of the discussion usually takes place when I’m asleep, so carrying on a sustained debate would take several days (and it’s hard to stay passionate about a particular topic for that long).
Mostly I post on casual subjects, or informative if there’s a topic I think I can contribute to. In the Pit I stick mainly to humor (I’ve yet to pit, or be pitted by, another doper).
Per my user stats, I post just over once a day. Don’t think I have any real impact, though.
4.03 posts per day; I used to be up around six but have dropped off in the last couple of years.
As for the impact I always feel like no-one notices and then suddenly someone says they always like my posts. Makes my day every time.
I always like your posts, Priceguy.
My post-per-day average is 0.91. I tend to alternate weeks of checking the boards daily with weeks of not checking at all. Even when I’m on the boards, I probably go days without posting, then make several posts at a time in a couple of threads. I read a lot of the threads, but I rarely feel like I have much to add. I’d say my impact is pretty small. On several occasions, I’ve posted information in a thread, received no response, then noticed a more well-known poster say almost the exact same thing and get all the glory, so to speak. This is slightly annoying but understandable. A lot of posters view this as a social community, so I don’t blame them when their eyes glaze over a post by someone they don’t know. I was pleasantly surprised that multiple people (three!) commented on some of my posts in the “Musicians by Nation” thread. I’m also surprised to see that my user name has been mentioned by a couple of people as being one of their favorites (Belle and Sebastian fans, presumably). I didn’t realize anyone would remember me!
I’m curious why some posters in this thread, whom I’d consider to be board celebrities, feel as though they make no impact on the board.
I think celebrities differ from poster to poster. I know there’s a bunch of people I consider celebrities but I’m pretty sure they don’t realize I even post at this message board. Of course, all of them probably think of other people as celebrities and think those people don’t notice them at all…and so on and so on.
Anyway, I usually check the board at least twice a day, and I post whenever I feel I have something to say. I usually go through Cafe Society, Game Room, IMHO, and MPSIMS and usually average clicking on 4-5 threads a visit, but I’ll usually only find out I have something to say in about 2 or 3 total.
My day has now been made.
I post very often and nearly 365 days a year. There are times when I am on the board too much (lately) and times where I am still on posting more than average but for me, it is light. I believe I post with the second highest frequency on the board: Posts Per Day: 16.46
As to impact, I don’t think I have much, except maybe in the Game Room.
I’ve become a more frequent poster lately.
I make the board shake.
Just wait till’ I get older.
I post 2 - 3 times a day, mostly during work - the SDMB is my mental break.
Impact? 95% of the time = none. But I have come to realize that my geekiness about guitars seems to get traction in Cafe Society - I consider myself an all-purpose geek and over the first 5+ years here I rarely discussed guitars. But between a few guitar shopping and now building threads, an SDMB guitar sub-group has clearly manifested and it can be fun to discuss stuff. A few Dopers like Crotalus, **Johnny L.A. **and others have moved their guitar-building projects forward in part due to these geeky threads, so it is fun to know that is happening - same with squeegee and a couple of other folks getting new guitars with input from Dopers like me…
I also post several times a day. Hopefully, I dole out the harshness in this levity-palooza.
I post very rarely and the impact is very little I assume.

My average is 4.75 a day. I’ve no idea if they have significant impact or not. On a couple of occasions someone has alluded to my posts making a difference for them.
Oh come on, Captain Modest. You’re one of the best known posters around.
I like you a lot and love your snark.
I post several times a day, 5 days a week. I took two posting hiatuses this year, one simply because my subscription ran out and I didn’t feel like re-upping (and am glad I didn’t!)
Impact? I hope that I have educated some people on things from India, and I participate in a lot of book threads, whenever I can. I even start a few. Other than that, I don’t think I have much impact, just another fluff poster. But with India, I can’t help it, it’s like bait. Nummy.
Come on now, you are clearly one of the top 10 respected posters on the board and probably one of the best known.
I apparently post 1.64 times per day.
Impact? If a tree falls in the forest …
According to the board statistics, I make about 1.38 posts per day. Mostly they come in bursts. I won’t post for a week and then post 7 or 8 times in one day. I read the boards every day though.
What’s the lowest rating on the impact scale? I’m just below that.
