How often do you visit SD boards?

I found this wonderous place about the same time I was looking at quiting my last job. I spent a lot of time on it then. Now, I’m theoretically not supposed to be online save work related matters and I really should obey that, since I’m surfing from a clients network (usually).

I finally had the inspiration to get NetZero and FreeLane (deciding which one I like) so I can log on at home for the first time…trouble.

I still spend hours a day online, which is to say, here and that’s probably not going to get better with home access. <sheesh>

At work, I do a lot of support for remote unix systems, so there’s lots of times when I’m just hanging on the phone while a customer runs to a server room to do something. I’ll use that time to check out the boards.

At least that’s what I’ll tell my boss if he ever asks :slight_smile:

With a cable modem at home, it’s easy to check in periodically at night, like now…

I’m at home. With small children. And cable.

I like to think of it as my sanity maintenance. yes there really is a world out there

I work mostly at home, and have a dedicated connection, so I check the boards about 3-4 times a day. Or if both kids go down for naps at the same time, I log on then.

I can quit any time. Really. I mean that.

I am also something of an underworked administrative assistant, so I usually have the boards open all day. I’m not always reading or posting, but I’ve got my browser glued here.

Immediately after skool (1-2pm-ish), and 15 minutes of every hour thereafter 'till 10:00 pm or so.

I come here almost exclusively from work. I have a lot of free time at my job, and when I’m not studying, I’m here. Or, more accurately, when I can pull myself away from here, I can sometimes make myself study. Unless #straightdope is especially entertaining…

I don’t have a computer at home, so I only post during the day (although I have occasionally posted late at night from my folks’ house if we are visiting them for the weekend). I usually pop in and out a few times during the day. I’m most likely to be on in the morning (I pop in after I have checked my email, run my morning reports, etc), at lunch (I eat at my desk most days, so I check the boards while I’m munching my sandwich), and late afternoons when everybody here starts to head home.

Some days I post more than others. It really depends on how busy I am at work. I’ve gone many days without even checking the boards and then suddenly I will have a day where things are slow and I manage to squeeze in a bunch of posts. I’ve been registered for about six months and have around 700 posts, so that’s between 3-4 posts per day on average.

Probably more than I should. I am the Queen of Alt+Tab.

I only have a computer at work and since I’m not super busy here, I can spend lots of time surfing. Actually, I’ve been pretty busy the past couple days and will be since I have projects coming due so I haven’t been on as much as I usually am. My browser window is almost always open.

However, those projects didn’t prevent me from finally logging on to Napster and joining up there. Still a little mystified by that one.
