The phrase “begs the question” used to have (and still does, among people who know it!) a very specific and totally different meaning. Then people who were ignorant of what the phrase actually means started using to mean something completely different. If this different meaning is now “perfectly acceptable and common,” it still makes me wince and :smack: whenever I see it—and if that makes me a pedantic jerk, so be it.
Wow, you guys are harsh…I’d say 20 is fine, 25 is worrying. It’s fairly easy to see how someone could go through their teens without finding the right person who wanted to do it to them, too.
I honestly think it’s wrong to be seeking to have sex, rather than a relationship.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t say anything about it, but seeing as half my friends (some of them female) are freaks for wanting to wait until marriage, I really see no reason not to judge you back.
What do you think? Do you think that he broke the deathly silence of our workplace by standing up and announcing that he was (is) a virgin, with no reason to do so?
Or do you think that a bunch of guys were chatting about sex and stuff and he dropped it into the conversation.
BTW, the guy didn’t even know what ‘virgin’ meant at the time, he just told us that he has never had a girlfriend or been intimate with a woman.
Well, fair point, but the point is that it would be something you do within an already functional relationship (however serious that may be). If you decide to have kids that’s great. Deciding to have kids because you think it’ll make an unsatisfying relationship more of what you want it to be? Disaster.
I’ll hope that was a bit tongue in, AHEM, cheek. If someone considers getting laid a LIFE GOAL, that’s pretty pathetic. Sure, falling in love, finding a life partner. Fantastic. Merely getting your dick wet a life accomplishment…not so much.
Dude, I had enough angst over being single for everyone in this thread. I didn’t get any until I was 22 and I’ve done it ONCE since I was 23 (currently 27). It’s dandy getting the monkey off your back (and I’m not saying I’d turn it down to visit the dentist or anything), but if someone thinks it’s going to be a life changing experience they’re likely to be woefully disappointed.
