How stupid can people get??

This could be the funniest thing I have ever read . . .

I hear they’re going after the San Antonio Spurs next.

The thing that frightens me the most is that if these people are serious they can also VOTE!!!

To respond directly to the thread title: You don’t want to know. It’s worse than any of us imagine.

Hmmm… Although… Wasn’t the title to the Harry Potter movie changed in the U.S. from “…Philosopher’s Stone” to “…Sorcerer’s Stone” because they didn’t think American audiences would be able grasp it?

The original title has a lot more history to it, but I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if the title gets modified for U.S. audiences.

As for the general public calling it LOTR-2… I’ve seen a few websites that simply refer to it as “TTT.”

Oop! Forget what I just said, because I found this tid-bit:

I found this at http://www.killermovies.com/lotr/articles/1572.html but the article is quite short. Presumably, the Chicago Sun-Times article goes more in-depth.

The name of the first Harry Potter book in the U.S. was …Sorcerer’s Stone…so, not just for the movie.

I shall be the first to notify you that there is a counter-petition.

This should win me the adulation of the masses, and possibly a few groupies.

The other petition, BTW has, at last count, 2056 signatures, with no false ones that I have seen yet, a higher concentration of comments, and is vastly more fun to read.

Although there is a slight hope that the original is a joke. One of the signatories identifies herself as Dani Klerck, and tells of her cousin kevin “nearly [dying]” in the towers. The originator of the petition? Kevin Klerck. So, possibly, this is all an elabrate ruse.

Or elaborate.

:frowning:

Even Petitiononline.com themselves are amazed:

Also, this is one of the necessary fields on the counter-petition:

(emphasis mine)

I always thought the Gulf War was fought to seek revenge on Saddam Hussein’s destruction of the World Trade Center. Guess I was right.

Thank God that your average Irish housewife is so much better informed in these matters

My favorite: “I can’t believe that some people still have the nerve to wear matching pairs of shoes.”

Even worse…they can serve on JURIES!

We’re seeing the teeming millions teem, people.

Someone should start a petition to rename the Porsche 911 to something less offensive… ;)

No no no no no. It’s a joke it’s a joke! JOKE! Very dry, and tasteless, but it’s a sham, people. And most of the “serious” signatures are also jokes.

The poster for the first movie looked like this Eve, and I’m guessing the ads for the second one will look pretty similar, so if anybody mistakes it for a story about New York they really do need to get out more.

Then again, you probably wouldn’t have gone to see it anyway, I’m guessing. Most folks who would be seeing the movie probably know the title of the book, so they’re not loosing any business on folks who don’t.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I have never seen the World Trade Center called the two towers.
I’ve always seen them called The Twin Towers.

This is proably why we don’t see Duncan and Robinson of the Spurs play at the same time anymore.
