How to make extra-marshmallowy rice krispy treats?

I’ve never made any krispy treats before. But thanks for that, Captain Obvious.

Reminds me of a question my stepson asked me the other day: “What did you put on this bread to make it so…buttery?” “Um. Butter.”

The secret ingredient is Rice Krispies.

As has been stated, if you make them with marshmallow fluff (1 jar replaces 1 bag of marshmallows) they’re totally gelatin-free and safe for vegetarians. Hooray!

Someone here once shared the brilliant idea of Black Forest Krispie Treats, cocoa krispies and dried cherries added to the traditional recipe. Those are always a huge hit any where I bring them, for extra chocolatey goodness I toss in a tsp of cocoa powder to the pot directly.

Whoever originally shared this idea, you have my undying gratitude!

I thought marshmallows weren’t Kosher?

But, yes, more marshmallows and you know that pack of that you bought 2 years ago for Thanksgiving sweet potatoes that have gone stale? Don’t use those.

i really like fruity pebbles treats. or rice krispies with fruit loops mixed in. yum!

Beaming strength at ya (and the phrase “self-control can be yummy, too”…)

Marshmallows are made with gelatin, and most gelatin isn’t kosher. Even if the gelatin comes from kosher animals, those animals weren’t slaughtered kosher. You could have perfectly normal gelatin made from beef and lamb, but it would have to be made at a kosher butcher. Most kosher marshmallows you see sold are made using gelatin made from fish bones, so they are pareve and can be used with dairy ingredients. They suck.

These are typically the last treat I’d reach for, but now I’m going to make a Cocoa Crispy version with chocolate chips. I’m a sucker for double chocolate.
