How would you start the MMP...?

Happy Hippie Day!!!

So when you showered, the whole house got steamy? And if you had guests, you also got a show? What kind of bizarro design is that?? I never understood the concept of having a sink in the bedroom. I knew a couple who had a big soaking tub on a raised platform in the bedroom - I guess it was supposed to be sexy or something?? I dunno…

It’s down to 69° in the house! In May!! Without the a/c being on! Stoopit weather. Overcast with a promise of t-boomers this afternoon. But I guess not enough of a promise to stop the road-workers in the neighborhood.

After laying new asphalt, they’re back widening the road, hence taking a strip out of our ditch and side strip (less to mow!!) FCD thinks it’s because they plan to strip the roads. All I know is the equipment is noisy - between the roaring engines and the beep-beep-beep as they back up. I’ll be glad when it’s done, whenever that will be.

Otherwise, not a lot going on. Did I mention I bought a collapsible stool for FCD for our cruise? When he walks for any amount of time, the numbness in his feet starts to travel up his legs, so he needs to sit a bit - like less than a minute. Then he’s fine. Some of our excursions will require walking in places where there won’t be benches, so this will be a necessity. I’m going to make a cross-body bag so I can carry it for him. The hard part will be for me not walking at my usual pace. It’s hard for me to just stroll leisurely. I’ve got places to go, folks!!

Not sure what today will hold. I do plan to use the leftover chuck roast to make a pot of veggie-beef soup. Beyond that, we’ll just figure it out as we go along.

Happy Thursday!!

But were you mad? :winking_face_with_tongue:

Today is my trip to the dentist. It will be interesting to see how many cavities I have. Yesterday’s interview was not promising as the woman was from another country and I had a very difficult time understanding what she was saying. I literally had to ask her to repeat herself 4 or 5 times, so I have very low expectations.

IMO, a preferred choice anyway.

Happy birthday hippy! :birthday_cake:

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I have an uber scheduled for 0845 to go to the ortho. I’m not up to making the trek from BF parking lot (the handicap slots are usually taken there), so the uber will drop me off in the port cochere. Once home, I’ll do the signing up for SSDI and get hold of the attorney. Joy.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I forgot a few things…

Happy Birthday, Hippie!!

Red, best of luck with your SSDI claim. I hope it works out much better than mine did.

I am going to make Bourbon Chicken today and I’ve got to buy the bourbon for it. Guess I’ll just look for the cheapest at the grocery store. Honestly, the only reason that I thought about it is that I have to stop at the store to get my mom’s prescriptions after my dentist appointment.

After reading and posting here, I opened up an email from our health insurance. Let me tell you that after having been on Medicaid for a year, some of this stuff is a bit tough to take. I may have already mentioned this but my portion for the nerve block test was around $500. Today I got the bill for the gel injection in my knee. My portion for that was $350 and physical therapy so far is another $500. I’m ready for all this nonsense to be over, but even though I’ve met the deductible, there’s still the co-insurance nonsense and the complete amount out of pocket. I had completely misread it. I thought the full out of pocket amount was about $6000. Nope, that’s just the amount designated for me. The full amount is about $14,000. Ugh.

I do wonder what will happen, though, since MusicMan isn’t using the insurance. Will we ever have to stop paying when we reach my limits or will I have to pay the full amount?

Happy hippie day!

Good morning.

It’s 50°F and cloudy outside. There will be morning showers, which will clear off to partly cloudy by the afternoon, and the high temperature will be 66°F.

Happy Birthday, Hippie!

I’m glad the trip turned out well, VanGo.

We bathed the pups yesterday. They were both overdue for one. Fortunately, the bathtub in the primary suite is gigantic, so we plopped them both in there simultaneously. I stripped down to my skivvies and sat on the ledge on the side of the tub (the big ledge is on the backside against the wall), while my husband was on the outside of the tub, making sure they didn’t escape.

Neither of the pups fought very hard and pretty much stood there while being scrubbed. Buster was curious and was moving around in the tub more, so I scrubbed him up and then rinsed him, so we could get him out of the tub first. My husband was in charge of drying the pups off. Maisie was very calm during the process, and I could tell the pups felt much better. They’d been pretty itchy lately, and the scratching and licking stopped after the bath. Their collars were filthy, although you couldn’t tell until they were washed. The collars received a good wash, and after an overnight drying session, both dogs have their collars on again.

After the bath session, I took a shower and took the opportunity to treat my hair with a hair mask.

After the shower, I gathered all the towels and washed and dried them. I also washed all the bath mats in the bathroom; it had been a minute, and they needed a wash too.

The rest of the day was spent doing minor things around the house, playing with the pups, cleaning the barbecue, and grilling chicken thighs for dinner.

I heard from one of my former co-workers the other day, who told me one of the contacts I dealt with was sorrowful to hear I had taken the DRP, and told her how much he liked me. He’s a good guy and the head of a certain area. He lived and worked closer to the East Coast, so we never worked together in person. We always took care of business, but then our conversations veered to our lives and experiences. He is another of the good souls I’ll miss working with, and it makes me feel good to know he feels the same.

I’m not sure what’s on the agenda today. At some point, I need to get to Costco because I need more paper towels and TP. I’m not quite out, but I am fast approaching the minimum amount required for storage. I’m not sure if Costco is on the horizon today, though.

Alrighty, I need to finish the coffee and get my day started. You all take care.

ah, gg and his personal water park.

only stretch the super d duper liked water. he liked splashing in it not being in it. the others might dip a paw in the water dish, not much more than that.

things have cooled down weather wise. this week is why i don’t put away the middle winter jacket and portable heaters until after the 30th. the cats were happy about the radiant heat being on. last week the fans and ac were running.

looking very forward to the 3 day weekend.

I’m not sure I qualify for “kind” - I didn’t want to wait around in the heat for an hour for the cops, and not sure they would have even showed for a non-injury accident. If he had been rude or difficult I would have suddenly found the motivation to get the cops involved.

And unfortunately I think I’m going to be the one who pays (literally and figuratively) for that. My texts show that he’s read them but he hasn’t responded. I’ll probably start a thread asking for advice on how best to handle things - I haven’t been in a wreck in probably 20 years, and bumpers were much simpler things then.

For which I’m very thankful. It really could have been so much worse!

I just re-read and saw where you were looking at apartments in her neighborhood - that sounds like a really good idea to be so close! Also, movers are 100% worth it if you can afford it.

Happy birthday Hippie!

That looks like a fantastic solution! Has he tried it out yet?

sticky buns I’m sorry, that sounds terribly expensive.

Happy Birthday hippy!!!

He was helping!

How’s roomie’s shoulder?

Oh yes, but he hasn’t really gotten the hang of opening the lid yet. Jolene probably could figure it out if she was motivated, but so far she only seems interested in playing in water because GG does.

I used to just love wasting half a day in pointless meetings. /s

At least there was beer at the end of the day!

The master bathroom was off the master bedroom which had a door. Of course that door would be closed when guests were over, but guests didn’t go into our bedroom anyhow. The sinks, shower and tub were all in the bathroom, along with the water closet which did have a door. So, if you were standing next to our bed, you look down the hall and see my sink and the garden tub, no door involved.

The master bathrooms also had vent fans and windows that could be opened, the house got as steamy when we showered as yours does when you shower.

If you look at home design fashions, you will see that sort of arrangement often. The place in Spring Valley just had wall and arch separating them, our last place had Jack and Jill closets between the bedroom and bathroom which added a wide hallway.

I’m horrible at explaining that sort of thing, sorry.

snert!

George’s fur is very soft and shiny now and I keep reaching over to pet him while he’s trying to take his morning nap. i’ll learn him!!!

I have many very unkind things to say about the state of what we call a health care system. I’m so sorry you are having to deal with that on top of everything else.

As soon as we got it, he did. It’s easy to open and close, and tho it has its own strap, I’m going to bag it so I can carry other stuff as needed, since I don’t intend to take my purse on excursions. I wear my passport and credit card in a pouch around my neck under my clothes. Had I been in the smart-ass mode, I’d have bought him the rainbow stool, but since he likes black, I went that route.

We never had a cat that liked water, but our last house in FL had a huge shower with a door and it was great for washing the dogs - the only thing that would have made it better would have been a hand-held unit. Instead, I took a big plastic pitcher and filled it from the existing shower head. It was great - the dogs could be cleaned and they’d shake off in there, plus I could dry them in there (mostly) so cleaning them wasn’t nearly as awful as doing it in a tub.

And speaking of our FL house, we bought it in 2000 for something like $129K, more or less. According to Zillow, it sold 3 years ago for $345K! Someone who owned it after us did change and upgrade some things, but dang! Oh, and the current estimated market value is $317. Real estate be weird.

Back from Food Lion. I used MIL’s shop and earn account today - since she hasn’t used it (because, well…) they lowered the requirements for rewards, and I scored $7 for minimal shopping. My account, on the other hand, required that I spend lots more to get any rewards. It’ll be interesting to see if anything changes when I go a month without shopping there.

BIL called - he’s having some problems with his voicemail, but he did call consumer cellular. Then called me. I don’t want to have to go over there to straighten it out, so we shall see if he can figure it out. I do find it interesting that he calls me and not his brother…

OK, off to build a pot of soup.

This is my Twitter profile pic:

Someone I’m arguing with just said I look like a Temu version of Kid Rock. Now I’m laughing too hard to insult him back.

That’s some “insult”…

Happy birthday hippie! I hope you are spending the day with cake and presents and people you love.

The city shut the water off last night to do some work on the road project. It’s back on, but weak stream and zero hot water.

Had the maintenance guy up here this morning. He was following up on a slow drain issue we’ve been having. We had a discussion about the headaches of being in building maintenance and I mentioned that this place has never had a work order system that actually functioned. He told me that he has gotten approval to put one in place and it will becoming soon. This is good news. I don’t know how a maintenance program in a building this size can function without a way to prioritize the work and follow up.

Oh, and they’ve raised the rent again. It appears that ours is going up by about $2000/year.

whoa! that is quite the increase. does this mean there will be heat?

stretch did figure out how to move the toilet lid. i ended up having to child proof it. the bathroom was his play ground. he had cerebellar hypoplasia. to make things easier for him i had him play with his favourite toy in the bathtub. smaller area for the ball to bounce and easier for him to chase.

once koritza joined us she inspired him to do things that most ch cats wouldn’t or couldn’t do. he wanted to go where she went. he would tumble a lot but would eventually get to where he wanted. he would be soooooo proud when he would land the jump or leap. i do miss my bud-bud.

I see a little Rainn Wilson there.

Sorry for being late to the MMP today, but slept in until 8:30am and then did my boarding stuff for my June cruise (which was much more difficult than it had any reason to be) so am behind for the day. Will probably do mowage shortly, I ate first and am now fasting before I can take my pill that says ‘take on an empty stomach’, so mowage will keep me away from food for awhile. Otherwise a quiet day is expected. Weather is nice again, 74F and clear skies.

boo fae, surviving meetings with your well-being intact is one of the signs you are still in good shape…

swampy, hope the funeralizing went well.

Hippie. a most Happy Birthday to You!!

FCM, the recently put in a service road for the city maintenance trucks in the woods near my house, so I occasionally get surprised by large diesel trucks rumbling past where no road has ever been before.

Sticky Buns, hope the cavity count is small. And ouch on the medical costs. Still have not seen any personal billing for my hernia operation in February, guess between Medicare and Blue Cross it got pretty much taken care of, but…

red, hope the ortho appointment gives you some assistance.

Taters, glad the pup did so well with the bathing. I have mentioned that I watch the You Tube channel “Girl with the Dogs” and how some of them react… :scream:). And it’s always nice to hear positive comments from folks you worked with.

J-Bats, I think you look a whole lot better than Kid Rock!

Cookie, an Ouch! on the rent. At least maintenance will hopefully improve.

And best be about mowage now. Y’all take care.

I’m not sure what I clicked on or what website I visited, but all of a sudden, the ads that pop up while I’m playing games on my tablet are for incontinence underwear and bras for women over 50. I notice the women in the ads are all the same, regardless of the company selling the stuff - I suspect it all comes from the same source but the sellers vary. Regardless, I’m not buying $25 underpants, especially from a site that got an “F” from the BBB.

There’s one woman in particular who creeps me out. She’s got white hair, straight and chin length, and when she smiles, I swear her lips are glued together. But she’s really thrilled with her bra - she stands there twisting back and forth showing it off. I think if you saw it, you’d agree it’s creepy.

< shudder >

Anyway, I just cut up the remaining chuck roast - it was pretty fatty, so lots of waste. But I got a fair bit for the soup, and I dumped in chopped onion, a bag of mixed veggies, and the remaining broth from the pot roast, as well as assorted seasonings. I’ve left it to simmer for a few hours. I’ll add some barley later. Some will be bagged for the freezer and some will be tonight’s supper.

FCD wants to talk about getting a dog. I’ve told him I don’t want one because I wind up being the one to care for it. I’m up first, so with Higgs, I was the one to let her out and the one to feed her. I was also the one to clean her bedding, buy her food, pay attention to when she wanted out, clean up after accidents, feed her supper… In fact, before Higgs, I’d said I didn’t want another dog, then someone brought her home.

Plus there are vet bills, flea and heartworm meds, groomer costs, figuring out what to do when we want to go away, and should FCD die before me, I’d end up with a dog I didn’t want in the first place. I understand he really wants another, but I don’t. And I’ve told him that several times. But we’re going to discuss it.

But not today.

I had an interview with a food place thats opening up a 7 minute walk from my building.
Putting my shoe on is uncomfy as last Friday I had a partial nail avulsion.
So I texted him and asked if he could come here. Its a 1 minute drive.
He did. I am available any hours as its walkable.
Tomorrow I have an interview at a place for laundry.
We shall see.
It rains. I hate rain; thankfully it will end soon.
Its been quite a rainy month.

The usual bouncing around between the table and Middle Red(the loader isn’t new, but he’s slow). I did my Senior Day shopping. Got 4 cases of Yuengling on sale. Plus a couple other items.

Dig it deep enough, and the idiots can’t get out.

:champagne::partying_face::birthday:HAPPY BIRTHDAY HIPPIE!!!:birthday: :partying_face::champagne:

Much better.

But you’d need to spend a few years washing down meth with Boone’s Farm in the Wal-Mart parking lot before you look like Kid Rock.

Are they gonna do something with money, or is it “Let’s make as much money as possible before building implodes, and sucks all the residents into The Forbidden Zone”?

After he brings it home and names it, then?
