How's this year's hurricane season?

After all the doom and gloom predicted last year, has hurricane season this year been a damp squib?

The worst thing is that these knuckleheads will make another prediction for the summer 2007 season and everyone will report it.

These guys were way off in their prediction for 2005 when the Atlantic hurricane season broke several records and they were way off again when they predicted a busy season for 2006, but 2006 turned out to be a very quite year.

When are these guys going to admit that they really have no idea what the next hurricane season is going to be like?

Apparently El Nino/La Nina (forget which) helped to keep the number of powerful storms down.
Most of the ones which did form did so out in the middle of the Atlantic, moved north and
became extra-tropical (and ultimately Europe’s problem).

Amen to that. I live in Key Largo, FL and was dreading this year’s storms after the whole “OMG GOD, 20 years of bad luck!..um, I mean BAD STORMS!” scare they were shouting about after last year. It’s just like being up north where they get a few bad snow storms and everyone starts yelling about 20 year blizzard cycles and end times. There’s no shame in not knowing the deal, so I wish they would shut up already and just let us deal with whatever comes and stop scaring people away needlessly.

I’ve also heard it theorized that there’s a lot of African dust in the air in the Atlantic this year, and that might have calmed the season.

I say load up a bunch of planes with African dust and dump it in the upper atmosphere next year! I loved this season…

Give us more damp squibs, please.

What hurricane season?

Didn’t Spain and Britain get a couple of mild hurricanes? Places that don’t normally have them, I think.

This year’s hurricane season, at least in the Atlantic, is so far an excellent season. A wonderful season. A season to be repeated. Kudos to Gaia for this hurricane season. Encore! Encore!
