From viewing the Dole ad here, and listening to Hagan’s voice in her “Sad” ad here, it sure sounds to me like they were trying to make people believe that voice at the end was Hagan saying “There is no God.” Apparently that’s been the view of others as well (starting at about 1m34s in that video).
According to this article in Time, Hagan has indeed filed a defamation suit against Dole for the ad.
That is a dirty and desperate ad. Dole should be ashamed and she should lose.
Apparently Hagan has already created a response ad. She, too, felt that the voice declaring “There is no God” at the end of Dole’s ad was a deliberate imitation of her.
The “bearing false witness” part was good. I hope it is not too late.

Dole has been running a followup ad, which starts off saying that Kay Hagan’s faith is "not in question: and then proceeds to state that she attended a fundraiser “in her honor” that was held by the Godless Americans. This despite the fact that it has already been widely publicized that the fundraiser was not “held by the Godless Americans” but was merely held at the house of someone who was an advisor to that group. This story also says that
I had voted prior to these ads being aired, but not for Dole. I’m wondering how many people who voted early for her are now wishing they could change their vote.
Well, according to Reuters, Hagan ousted Dole.

I like Liddy Dole & Bob & I wish Liddy had been a better Senator over the past six years but she’s been a non-entity & deserved to lose because of that alone.

I have never been so happy to be wrong. Wow, a slimy personal attack ad based on half truths stretched to the point of being outright lies didn’t work in my home state. I’m floored.
It’s fair to use non-Christian as an insult?! Next you’ll be saying that using Muslim is perjorative too…
And yes, it’s even worse when it’s untrue.
That said, I stayed up until 4am this morning to watch the results come in, and am delighted that the party that chose smear and slander tactics for the third election running finally seem to have been found out.
