The American People, that’s who.
Elizabeth Dole should be punished for this by having to suck off Bob Dole until he actually achieves an erection.
Interesting. But I’m against the death penalty.
Ok I’m offended by this commercial on the same level I’m offended by calling Obama a Muslim. Where is it written that you can’t be an American and a Muslim? Where is it written that you can’t be an American and an atheist. Why are we letting the radical right decide who is an American and who is not? Why do you have to defend yourself as a Christian Elder Sunday school teacher, even if that is true? We’re missing the fucking red elephant in the room here. Didn’t some other regime try this same tactic?
An interesting ad for…well, just voting.
Dole needs to be on the bottom of that pig picture.
My previous family motto has just been replaced.
Wow. Builds to total guffaw territory, and then the last guy (who was also the first)… Well. Damn. I’m of two minds whether that twist at the end was the right thing to do, but no question it’s a kick in the head.
LAUGH Stuff like this is why you’re my favorite SDMB poster.
I always thought Lizzy was sane. Was she always insane and I never noticed or is this a recent thing? Did she, like McCain, get infected by the rabid right? She was head of the Red Cross at one point, wasn’t she?
I just came in to say that, thanks to this thread, I got one more correct answer in Gail Collins “One Week to Go” quiz in the NY Times Op-Ed page. (5 out of 9, pretty lame, but better than 4 out of 9). Thanks to all of you!
Ralph Nader and Ross Perot in a landslide!
That’s my dream come true!
Wait… you mean an ‘electoral’ landslide, don’t you…
Except she didn’t take any money from this group. She attended a private fund raiser hosted by someone who had also raised funds for this group.
In other words, she knows a guy who knows a guy.
What I love is how Liddy’s spokesturd is swearing up and down that the ad doesn’t imply that Hagan is an atheist. I’m sure he’ll next be explaining how the color red isn’t really red.
I just realized that this is what’s behind McCain’s optimism. If the red states on the electoral map are actually blue states, then the blue states must be red states. Victory is at hand!
I hope I live to see the day where nobody would use "
‘Atheist’ as an insult.
No, scratch that, I hope I live to see the day where the accepted response to ‘My opponent is an atheist!’ isn’t ‘No I’m not!’ but ‘So what?’
Sadly, I don’t think I’m going to live that long. I still hope, of course, that some day it will be just as acceptable to be an atheist in this country as it is to be a theist.
Reminds me of the movie The Best Man, with the revered former President reflecting how, back in his day, “We had to spread a little God on everything, like ketchup.” (And that movie was in 1960. Why does this country keep taking backward steps?)
Because what’s in front of us is sca-a-a-a-a-a-ary? <waggles fingers>
For both Elizabeth Dole and McCain did they not remember: “For what does it profit a man if he gaineth the world but loseth his soul?”
And it’s even worse if you lose.
Don’t get your hopes up. We’re talking about North Carolina.
Yea, tell me about it.
