I Am Having All Kinds of Trouble, and No One is Helping Me

I was told it was not necessary to do that for each new device. Even so I tried that at home, and once got it to tell me it had sent me an email so I could log in, but the email never arrived.

The notice I received telling me about the upgrade showed up in my regular folder. The reset password email went to my spam folder. This caused me much confusion for about an hour.

That and I had to put an underscore in my user name. That took me some getting used to. Now if only the search would start working. Yesterday most of my searches came back as from 2001. Today they are coming back from 2006. Hopefully the will all be indexed by Friday.

Once you successful log in on any device with Username & Password, you can use that combo on another. The Log In with email doesn’t fix anything, it just gets you in once. See my instructions above: I Am Having All Kinds of Trouble, and No One is Helping Me - #4 by What_Exit

yeah, did all that and it did not succeed. And I’ve already had to do the ‘log in with email’ twice, and doing it the 2nd time is what got me BACK in on my work computer.

Damn, well sadly you’re beyond my untrained help. I was hoping you just missed a step. The Queue for Tuba Diva is fairly long I think.

Do check you Email’s spam filter, it is possible the password reset email got trapped there.

This doesn’t seem to work if you are using a different email and were unsuccessful in changing it before the transition. I thought I had changed min, but I am getting no emails (in spam/trash/whatever) under my old username. I AM getting emails under my NEW name.

Yeah, problems solved. Haven’t checked emails. So sorry if I didn’t seem to reply.

I had some issues at first as well - the password reset process is not as intuitive as I would have hoped, but here I am.

I would suggest clearing cookies, cache, etc. as that seems to resolve or prevent some of these issues.

I’m now signed into SDMB on 3 different devices, and all 3 took getting an email sent to my email account with a new code to log in with. I will soon be seeing if logging out requires me to do it again, like it did this AM

Weird your having this problem. Can I ask what browsers you’re using?

Ugh. I got in after requesting one pw reset and it seems to be ok.
Meanwhile my husband can’t log in, can’t stay logged in, can’t get the PW email, then they tell him he’s trying too hard and come back later. From my username you can tell which of us is gonna keep trying until we succeed, and it isn’t him ;). He’s super frustrated.

Chrome on all 3. but today it seems now I can log on to them all without problems or need for that email.

I will confess my initial problem: SDMB had an old email that I no longer use and of course I was not getting any notifications about the transition, and password resets were being sent to that email. Yes, d-uh, user error as we were warned in several ways about this but I did not take action beforehand to validate my email on these boards. I simply opened up a new email account at that old email and the PW reset went smoothly from there.

Re: password creation. I did not have to use a special character. I have a capital, a lower case and a number.

And I have only lowercase letters. No numbers, no uppercase, no special characters.
