I have seen pictures in the past of a boombox called the GE SurfRadio(or maybe Surf Radio). It had two large speakers, a tape deck and supposedly the AM radio sensitivity of the renown GE SuperRadio. Googling it has turned up nothing so far, and eBay is no help either. Can anyone help?
Maybe try a Google image search just for “GE Boombox”? See if any of those match your memory?
Apparently what I saw was a bad image, and I misread what type of radio it was: here is a better image that seems to show it to be part of the GE “SuperRadio” series. The trouble is that it isn’t the model I, II or III, or even the very rare SuperRadio with mono cassette. This seems to be a boombox(no speakers in front), and even websites about the SuperRadio don’t mention this item.
I got nothing more right now but I’ll ask around some of my radio-head friends. It is possible – just maybe – that one of the regulars from CS would be of some help if you get this moved or start a new thread there. Assuming the Mods feel its appropriate.
Found it! Using kopek’s suggestion to Google image a search for “GE boombox”, of course. Thank you.
Terrific!!!
I have found myself sometimes looking for things I recall where details and/or the name is a mystery. For whatever reason I always found an image search to work better than the “standard” method. Sometimes its a good fall-back for those times when all else fails.
