Nope. Well, sorta. Never taken them as part of a meal, but butter sandwiches are a common snack in my household. Sometimes with brown sugar. Or tortillas with butter, tho that’s somewhat common in my neck of the woods, outside the 'Dope.
Another close one. Haven’t had butter in a PBnJ, but I do often make PB’nButter’nHoney. Or PB and molasses. Anybody else like them?
hmm I think I’ve got another one, non-food related. Anybody else where flip flops in the middle of winter? Granted a south Texas winter is nothing compared to where a lot of you folk live, but a good norther can push the thermometer down to freezing temps and sometimes below. And I wear my chanclas year round, sometimes even in that freezing weather.
Glass and most everything else ever played on New Sounds.
Did ya turn your garage into a back-stop (multiple layers of carpet hung from the rafters, with a rope system to raise them so M&D could still park cars) complete with yardage markers spray-painted on the driveway?
Mothballs are the smell of Grandma’s closet, how can you not love that smell?
Oysters, mussels, and clams. Smoked fish (not in a can) meat, skin, and bones. (Anybody else think the third best part of KFC are the ends of the long bones? (First being loose crispy bits, second being whatever the hell organ that’s hidden the back pieces.)
Chicken hearts, turkey hearts (T hearts and liver is breakfast on T-Day), rabbit hearts … offal is awfully good!
Straight from the can … after drinking the sweet, sweet asparagus juice!
I think I might be the only person here who actually loves Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree*.
CMC fnord!
*In my defense it’s mostly because it was my first GF’s favorite book. She had lost her copy during a move so I bought (but was waiting for the right moment to give) a new copy for her. Then I learned she really hated new books. Being illustrated with line drawings the solution was obvious, and multiple boxes of colored pencils were purchased.
Of course just coloring in the pictures wasn’t enough, every tree had to be different. Blue tree with purple leaves, green tree multi-colored leaves, polka-dot tree … even changed the to our initials. Got three quarters through my romantic gesture … and of course … she dumped me.
Which also makes me, probably, the only person here who has a reason to hate The Giving Tree for reasons that have nothing to do with its content.
You just brought my childhood to mind. When I was babysitting the little and baby sisters, I used to make those. I think the younger one is still plotting her revenge.
I think I do live in a place far, far away Hazle, in a land of no Catalina dressing, and no ponds to even speak of.. We do have horseradish however, and I do like to baptise cauliflower in it too.
I think I’m the only person on this board who likes Vegemite with cream cheese and green tomato pickles.
Like I could remember from when I was 13 and babysitter to the masses in my midwest suburb. I might not know matzoh brei but I make a good noodle kugel.
Cool. I just bought tickets for their 3 decades of Neubauten shows. One evening of movies and things (not sure exactly what will happen), and one evening with a Neubauten concert. Will be pretty sweet, allthough I don’t know anyone who like them, so I’ll have to go alone.
That sounds pretty damn good. And they’re amazing live. Try finding some youtube stuff and show it to your friends - it’s not just a concert, it’s an experience. And fun!
LOL!! I hope you would, but according to research, if you haven’t eaten Vegemite by the time you’re two, you’ll never *ever *like it. It was once described by an uninitiate as “It tastes like fermented yeast that have died and puked.”
I’m probably the only person on this board with an unabashed love for all things Glam and Hair Metal, especially the more obscure 80s club bands from LA and the East Coast. I think the first Pretty Boy Floyd album is epic and listen to it regularly. I’m proud to have members of PBF, Keel and Kix as friends on Facebook.
I’m probably also the only Doper who loves the Wildhearts with the ferocious intensity of a thousand slaved Fender Twins running at full bore.
Finally, I bet I’m the only one here to have seen Johnny Thunders play on both coasts.
