I’m almost positive that I’m the only one here who is really into the band 311. (Doesn’t count if you like a few songs/have an album or 2.)
I’m one of the very few Howard Stern fans here, but I know there are about ~5 others.
I might be the only one whose favorite Indiana Jones movie is Temple of Doom.
My favorite Founding Father is James Madison.
I’m into a lot of things that probably very few people here like, but I doubt no one else is into them; Philip Glass, Jorge Luis Borges, Gwar, target archery, horehound (candy), unicycling, minimalist running, playing the harmonica, Usagi Yojimbo, Don DeLillo, etc etc etc.
My tastes are extremely broad and often bizarre, but I don’t think they’re quite bizarre enough to fall completely outside the range of the membership here very often. I’m sure there are some comics/manga I’ve read (and enjoyed) that no one else here has, but who knows which ones, or cares, really.
I like “Midnight at the Oasis” too oliversarmy. It’s a very cool song.
(Other than my husband) I’ll bet I’m the only Doper to have met Kate Bush.
(Other than my husband) I’ll bet I’m the only Doper to have seen Kate Bush sing live (not in concert though).
(Other than my husband) I’ll hesitantly bet I’m the only Doper to have seen Tori Amos in a tiny, really tiny, club playing to less than 100 people before she got famous.
I’ll bet I’m the only Doper who’s seen Inception 3 times so far.
No, but I bought the CD when it was first released. There was a short period of time in the '80’s when it was very hip to love The Shaggs. I was never hip and never loved The Shaggs, but they were fascinating to me.
“Don’t You Care” and “Susan” by the Buckinghams. Isn’t there a strange, spacy, discordant bridge in one of those songs? Takes me right back to high school days.

[li]liking “Never Gonna Give You Up” on its merits[/li][li]liking “Top of the World” by the Carpenters[/li][li]knowing all the lyrics to “Fish Heads” by Barnes & Barnes (and that Bill Paxton is in the video)[/li][li]liking (and having performed in) operettas[/li][li]preferring sub sandwiches that have aged overnight in the fridge[/li][li]liking (and frequently quoting) Superman III[/li][li]liking the song “Midnight at the Oasis” (and having the original and two covers on my iPod)[/li][li] loathing: MMA, sports bars, beer and buffalo wings[/li][/ul]
And I bet I’m the only Doper who:
[ul]
[li]likes grilled cheese sandwiches made with cheddar cheese and apricot jam[/li][li]was at the Live Aid concert in 1985, the first Woodstock revival show, tried to go to Live Earth (failed) and basically loves those giant, muddy, overheated kinds of events[/li][/ul]
Rather than deal with all kinds of quoting, let me just say I am with you on:
the smell of gasoline
Howard Stern (although I don’t have Sirius, I am still a fan).
Manowar (assuming you mean the fantasy-flavored Metal band and not the poisonous jelly fish relative).
Silverhawks (unless there was some lost episode I know nothing about)
and several other things others have already supported.
I also wanted to add how great it is to know I am not alone in my Sub sandwich preference. I honestly thought it was just me. Something about how the oil and vinegar congeals just makes it taste better.
I really prefer stale Cheetos (both the curls and the puffs), and, no, not simply because I find them after a week between the keyboard and the CPU because the light in my Mom’s basement is so dim.
And to the musk-lovers: I’m talking eye-watering musk.
This sounds like a dish a woman taught me to make for her kids when I was babysitting them during Passover. Matzoh instead of saltines, but they are essentially the same.
