I want to get some licks in before this turns into a pay-site, and it gets gentrified to the point that “You are a right uncouth cad and a pusillanimous lout” is the strongest abuse you are liable to receive here.

I flippin’ HATE vanity threads. If you want attention so bad, why don’t you try to improve the quality of your posts? I looked at 2 of those threads you linked to. Why should anyone bother to flame you for those? People only flame others when they get riled up. So, apparently you’ve failed to garner any attention at all, be it negative or positive.

Sorry, I just don’t get flames much, either. But my problem is my openminded approach doesn’t lend much to shrap criticsim. Thus, I’m often invisible to the guy/gal who makes a boneheaded statement (as you were inquiring).
I agree with Green Been, I’ve been here less than a month, and the idea of a “vanity post” seems ridiculous.

I’m entirely with Green Bean - you failed to garner attention because you didn’t merit it. The fact that you even posted this marks you out as pathetic. Do you really want to be flamed or do you just want people to notice you? And do you really want people to notice you only in the context of you being lame enough to beg for attention?

Anyway. Jaimest, I don’t know you either, but I’m not going to tell you to “FUCK OFF”, or anything like that. In fact, I’ll do the opposite, and tell you how wonderful and how much a beautiful person you are. Likewise, how fortunate you are to live in a society that allows you such benefits, as to complain about not being complained about. Obviously, you are living in great times, even during such dark days - as compared to the lives of others. Life is great, and you should identify with the bright night stars above you.
I wish you well in trying to get “flamed” (if this is what you seek), because true happiness only comes from the inner reaches of our heart, and only YOU can find that special warm place you so desire.
Since I love giving people advice (solicited or otherwise), I will offer a few suggestions to get your posts noticed/flamed.
There are a few hotwords on these boards that always get flamed. I believe you probably know which they are.
Make outrageous assertions, and don’t bother researching them; post them as facts rather than opinions.
Say something disparaging about Opal.
Say something disparaging about other old favourites. But there are no cliques here.
Abortion. Child behaviour. Declawing. American Military. Foreskins. Gun control. If you really want to nail the dismount, mention all of these in one post.

And I fully know I don’t inspire much online emotion to begin with…as I am normally sticking to hot button topics like estuaries and pronouns, and not usually begging to be noticed. So I wondered what all this Pit stuff was about. I had no idea it was such sacred ground, not to be profaned by mindless toss-off threads that aren’t even (gasp…shudder) SPELL CHECKED.
And if that makes me the most vain, self absorbed, betwetting, pile-carpet humping, waste of cells to ever post here - then I just have to live with that.

Jaimest, hon, I don’t understand why you want to get flamed either. Isn’t it much more fun to make love rather than war? Spread love. Go out there and smile at someone, or greet them and ask them how they’re doing. Believe me that’ll make you feel much better about yourself than some silly ol’ flamin’ from a bunch of folks you don’t know and who don’t know you.
