Two of my roses are dead, so they’ve been dug out and flung into the woods. In their places, I’ve put some hydrangeas that weren’t getting enough sun. There are other hydrangeas now on the hill out front. I also moved a bunch of coneflowers, black-eyed-susans, and hostas. The sprinkler was on one bed for a while and I just moved it to another to soak the transplants into place.
Dunno what else I’m going to do - probably not a lot. It’s hot and I’m beat. But maybe I’ll weed and mulch around the one hosta next to the garage. That won’t be too big of a job.
But for the moment, I’m having some ice water, thinking about changing from sweat pants to shorts - it’s really warmed up!
Yesterday started out in a turtleneck & ended up in shorts for the second time of the year. The first time was only for an hour or two & apparently that’s where my sunglasses were; in the pocket. I just knew I’d find them after buying new ones. :smack:
Today will be 80°, so on Thurs I got my first email about Thanksgiving & today we vote on the 2016 calendar. Ummm, where’d summer go?
Finished the race in under goal time, despite some nasty blisters on the feet, so I’m (well, except for the blisters on the feet)
Swampy, you’ll be happy to know that despite many porta-Johns, there are literally, tens of thousands of people. The smart runners know to take your own TP with you.
There were different performances around town, with different groups/musicians. The first one I went to was three singers (two women and a guy) and the guy also played guitar, and they played mostly older folk-type music like The Byrds and Bob Dylan. The second concert I saw was Celtic music with guitar, tin whistle/flute, fiddle, and drums. The third was a singer-songwriter who sang and played guitar, and a nearby trumpeter spontaneously joined him for a few songs. There was also a barbecue afterward with a rock band. All in all, some great music, and lots of fun.
Howdy Y’all! After deheathenation and brunch I came back to da cave and took a nap. OYKW went to his place to deal with laundry and such. I’s still stufffded and so is he so no talk of dindin. Tomorrow is back to irk for moi so chillage shall ensue for the rest of the day.
We didn’t have lunch. Supper will be sketties. I just turned off the sprinkler and pulled my wagon load of tools to the back yard. I think tomorrow I will mulch.
It’s been a loverly day. I hope the stuff I transplanted perks up - I may have to water each one individually. Tomorrow. Not today.
Grrr. The slugs have been getting on my plants despite the penny fences and beer. I’m going to try coffee grounds next, which is apparently illegal in the EU.
I acquired three Typhoon Protein skimmers for a very nice price. Controlling the skimmer involves a cumbersome method of sliding a pipe around. Valves are $8.00 at Home Despot, and $2.00 on the web. I had to come up with $25.00 worth of stuff for the minimum order, and shipping was $13.00 So endth the High Finance Lesson for today.
