Business has just picked up: Someone from the AI Crime Division of the State Police is talking to Faye.
In a coincidence, I caught up on almost 400 of these last night. Overall I’m enjoying, but damned if Jeph still isn’t introducing new characters.
Also, Faye looks strange to me for some reason.
So is Bubbles the one being taken advantage of? Maybe boss-bot has something on her.
Yes - there were several strips with the boss threatening her a month (or so?) ago. She’s clearly being blackmailed to be there.
Faye seems to have been going through the hairstyles pretty rapidly lately. Also porking up from all those burritos.
She’s had the same quiff since the fast forward just after she started working at the Illegal Robot Fighting Arena.
The occasional sci-fi elements of the strip are a refreshing change from the relationship-focused routine. I enjoyed it when they all went up to the space station.
So why is it snowing in yesterday’s strip? Everyone’s been wearing short-sleeve shirts up to now - is it a fast-forward or something?
It’s been winter since the time skip back in January. Claire even complained about how cold it was whileall bundled up. I’ve noticed her mittens often.
Huh. I’ll have to skip back several comics to check it out - I didn’t notice.
Number 3365: Corpse Witch used May to try and get the heat off of the fighting arena, and Faye knocked her into the middle of next week for her trouble. GOOD ON YA, FAYE. That bitch has been cruisin’ for a bruisin’ for months now, real-time.
Excellent. I’ve often thought that if GladOS were transferred into a robot body, she’d be CW. Passive-aggressive and bitchy as hell.
Nah, Corpse Witch is nowhere near as sexily snarky as GLaDOS. She’s more Wheatley after his mental break. Smug, vengeful and not nearly as smart as she thinks she is.
“Corpse Witch?” I get which character it refers to, but where does the name come from?
Also, go Faye! I hope she didn’t fuck up her hand, punching a robot and all.
Punching out your employer is generally frowned upon and results in rejoining the ranks of the unemployed.
Of course, punching out your robot boss may be totally different, since the most likely result is a broken hand.
I thought of that too. For sure she’s fired, I’d bet. Perhaps she and Bubbles will both leave and go legit.
Nice.
These days, whenever I see other characters, I’m like “Yes, yes very nice but what are Faye and Bubbles doing?”
Her face sure seemed to react to it. And we know they have “face meats.” And she’s not a combat model.
But, yeah, Faye’s fired–at least. She knows people on the police department. If this weren’t a mostly low drama strip, I’d be worried.
This reminded me of something–back when May first tripped over the sword, I wondered why she didn’t point out that if it had been Marigold who got hurt, it would have been a lot harder to fix…
