Hanners would never grab Sven’s ass. Do you know what comes out of those things?
And we know that Faye appreciates Sven’s backside: Link

That’s Hanners’ tragedy. She’s not asexual - she finds men attractive and wants to do things like grabbing their asses. But her phobias make it impossible.
The good news is that, like the other characters in this strip, she’s slowly working her way through her problems. Hanners will eventually reach the point where she’s able to follow through on her urges.
The entire cast except perhaps for Hanners and Marigold are a bunch of wiseasses.
My OCD ass would totally be dating Hanners. And fantasizing about a threes0me with Marigold.
I am greatly relieved now that I’ve finally realized that the word starting with bukk on Marigold’s cup must be “bukkit.”

Hmm. And the full phrase would appear to be, “U HAZ BUKKIT”
Actually, the lettering changes. In panels 5 & 6, there’s an “A” that wasn’t there in panels 1 & 2.
Also, Dale seems to be violating the Terms of Service with this out-of-game, real-world harassment.
Oh, he’s just flirting.
Albeit in a way that would be totally unrecognizable by, well, non-WoW nrrds.
I’d just like to toss in another ‘I started reading QC due to this thread.’ Which is ironic in my case, as I live in the real Northampton, MA.*
Now that Dora’s Very Bad Day is over (which lasted just under six weeks . . .) it seems appropriate to ask . . . is she unpopular? I’ve generally taken her as being one of the more awesome characters out of a cast made largely of weapons-grade awesome, so this is a bit puzzling to me. Especially for a comic largely runs on a theme of ‘flawed, but still amazing.’
Sort of the big sister role. If the strip were an 80’s giant robot show, she’d have been killed in episode 17 . . . Making her new, more badass character design appropriate.
And on an unrelated note, what’s Hanners doing in panel 1 here? (And Sven’s face during his freakout on the next strip is oddly hilarious. Still makes me chuckle)
A couple of days late, I know. I had to have my username reactivated. (Thanks, anonymous assistant webmaster guy and/or possibly chick!)

- Which means most strips, for me, come with the free mini-game of ‘where they hell are they having dinner/drinking/purchasing sex toys today?’

She appears to be playing with an edamame pod and deciding that “edamame” is a funny word. If that little chant she’s doing refers to a specific song or word game, I don’t know it.
By the way, I’d like to reccomend today’s band. “The Sword” is a lovely metal group out of Austin, TX, that is inspired by a number of fantasy novels. They remind me both of Sabbath and Hawkwind.
Play. It. Loud.

Crazy SOs get very little leeway. She’s shown signs of being a manipulative, possessive control freak, and despite words to he contrary has not made a real active effort to fight her poor tendencies. “RAAAGH god I’m so sorry I’ll do better WHATSVENRAAAAGH”
Don’t get me wrong, I like her. There’s not one of the cast I hate seeing show up in the comic. But she’s the psycho girlfriend.

The problem with Dora, I think, is she doesn’t really have a strong story arc of her own. The whole “getting tired of being a goth” thing got resolved early on. The Faye, Marten, Dora love triangle was resolved in her favor quite some time ago.
There’s no real tension in her relationship since Marten is pretty much the perfect boyfriend (and Jeph’s attempts to induce tension are generally going to fall flat because of that). The current sibling-rivalry line is fairly weak, given that she is basically happy and Sven really isn’t – which makes her look a bit petty. As far as I can see, there’s really only two ways her character can go from here. Either she fades into the background, or something dramatic and life changing happens – the cafe burns down, she gets pregnant…
OK, so does anyone else wonder if Jeph’s been kind of horny lately?
It seems like there’s been a bunch of throwaway sex, gizz, boob & lesbian jokes.

She has a good spot as the Mama Bear, but in order to do that she needs to be sensible and solid, to act as an anchor for all the crazy people around her. She does that pretty well most of the time, usually at the cafe, but the Crazy pops up often enough to weaken her hold on that spot.

I tend to think that one of the themes of this strip is that everyone, no matter how together they seem to be, has their insecurities and their very bad side, so I doubt she’s ever going to be the sane, rational one. If anything I suppose that’s Marten now.
I wonder where Jeph is going with the Friendly AI Singularity. It sounds like a chance to turn the comic around a corner somehow, but I can’t fathom where he’s going with this. He just changed the strip’s global rules – we already weren’t in “our” universe, since there were small-scale AI’s (Pintsize, Winslow, Momo) running around, but now we’re in a post singularity universe with smart AI? What does that mean? I’m hoping we’re not in the Halo universe (!), but what hypothetical AI universe are we in, and what does that mean (comically, of course)?

He streams the drawing of his comic and there is a chat going on then; he knows his audience very well. Count yourself lucky the cat boner layer isn’t in the finished strip.
