I don't quite get today's "Questionable Content" strip

I totally agree. Never have I been so unhappy to reach the end of the archives. Three days a week is not enough.

While I like Grunnerkrigg Court, and am excited to see where the story goes, I think for storytelling, world building and lovely artwork, Girl Genius is better. After Schlock, of course. And I wasn’t a steam punk/gas lamp fantasy fan to start with. The multiple Hugo awards for GG also speak to it’s appeal.

But where Schlock does win is the attitude of Howard Tayler. He is the most reliable writer of all the comics I read. Every day, a new strip, no breaks for almost 10 years. Now six out of seven are single line 3 or 4 panel strips, but still. And he engages with his fans really well. I just wish the dead tree editions kept closer pace with the online strips. But each print edition has a bonus story not available on the web.

One of my all-time favorite webcomics is Out There. I’ve been reading it almost from the beginning. It has absolutely the best character development of any webcomic I’ve ever read (and I’ve read a ton). And that John character is totally me.

And like most webcomics, it’s takes the author/artist a while to settle into his “style”, but once he gets there it’s really good. R.C. Monroe started out publishing six days a week, but eventually cut down to five days a week. A couple months ago he switched format; “Out There” now only appears on Wednesdays (and in color, finally). On Mondays he does “In Here” with the main character from “Out There”, and on Fridays he does a thing called “Cliché Flambé”, where various characters from “Out There” talk about overused clichés.

And Miriam is absolutely one of the hottest babes anywhere. What a legscape!

I gave up on Out There a couple of years ago - I just got fed up with Miriam. YMMV.

When Claire and Emily were introduced there was a third intern. Whatever happened to her?

Gabby. Dunno.

Maybe it was that pesky allosaurus again.

I think the last time we saw her was at the party at Emiliy’s family’s lake house, the one where Claire came out to Marten about being trans.

BTW, anyone notice how Cosette now appears to be about 13 years old? Well, maybe not that bad, but boy she looks I dunno, slighter now? Certainly looks like a HS teenager at most.

Is Cosette the little brunette? I was wracking my brain trying to figure out who the hell that was. I somehow forgot that she worked at the coffee shop.

Just the ongoing evolution of Jaques’ artwork. You don’t notice the small incremental changes with the regular cast but when you see a character that hasn’t appeared in a while, you get hit with the cumulative change.

(Although having her eyes go from blue to brown is a little extreme.)

Yeah, she’s Steve’s girlfriend. She first appeared when she tried to ask Marten out at the library (Dora was not amused). Marten eventually hooked her up with Steve. She’s gone through some artwork revisions since.

Honestly, I thought Cosette could use a rev. She went from kinda cool/interesting looking to frowny dull. This rev needs a little work but I like that Jeph is trying to rethink her look.

And a name change. Her last name was originally Beauvais but it’s now Hurlbut. (Jacques forgot he had given her a last name in an earlier strip and made up a new last name for her in a later appearance.)

Hmm. A regular customer at one of my former places of employment had the last name Hurlbut. Only person I’ve ever met with that name.

Was his name Cosette?

No, his name was Jean.

No, his name was Bob.

I just noticed that QC has dropped its link to Oglaf. Was this mentioned in the QC forums?

I thought the Oglaf link was gone ages ago. Am I thinking of something else?
