I think the problem with Claire’s remarks were that they were too familiar. She thought that because she was the girlfriend she was automatically friends with his friends. If she were actually friends with Faye then what she said wouldn’t be considered bad. but she’s not.
I agree with Rand (especially since that’s exactly what Faye got on her case for).
Faye obviously would have sassed back, even if Claire had ‘earned the right to sass’ her, but it would have been more in the same tone.
