I don't think NRCC will call anymore

We keep getting calls from NRCC, with a Washington DC area code. Today I looked up NRCC to find that they are the National Republican Congressional Committee. They called back immediately, and I answered. They wanted to know if I thought Trump is doing a better job than Obama. ‘Oh, Hell no!’ I replied. ‘In fact, when are you going to get rid of Little Donnie Fail-Fail?’ Mrs. L.A. was shocked that I actually said that. Anyway, I doubt they’ll be calling back.

They’ve called us, and I normally don’t even pick up. The one time I did I asked why it would be worth their time to call an exchange that is probably 90 percent Dem voters. They didn’t have an answer, but they haven’t called since.

When they asked if you thought Trump was doing a better job than Obama, you should have said “At golf? Sure! He gets enough practice…”

It happens in the UK too.

Years ago (back when Tony Blair was Prime Minister), just as I was changing to go out on the bike, I got a call from the Labour party. After the initial “Is that Mr Trep?” business, we had:

Them: You used to be a member of the Labour party?
Me: Yes.
Them:* But now you’re not?*
Me: No.
Them: *Could you tell me why you’re no longer a member?
*
Now, as I explained, I was changing to get out on a bike ride, and so I was quite keen to bring this call to a prompt conclusion. A succinct explanation was called for.

Me: Blair’s a twat.
Them: Uhh - I’m sorry?
Me: Blair’s a twat.
Them: Right, I see. Is there anything…more political? Something that I can put on my form?

Personally, I thought my explanation was political enough. And exactly the sort of thing he should have been putting on his form. But the tragic postscript to all of this is, as I have observed on this board before: what wouldn’t I give to have Tony Blair back right now?

Ya, W doesn’t seem so bad now, either.

No…but they will make a tidy little profit when they sell your name and number to every skeevy telemarketer on the planet out of petty revenge.

Oh I don’t know… I think the same thing every once in a while, but then I start running through a list of names in my head: W, Cheney, Rumsfeld, John Ashcroft, Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz, Alberto Gonzales, Ari Fleischer… yeah it was just as bad.

About the only difference between the two administrations is that, as press secretary, Ari Fleischer could actually lie convincingly.

They all look just a little better now.

Except for destabilizing the Middle East and creating ISIS.

Right. The two things Duh-bya did wrong was to destabilise the Middle east, create ISIS, and cause the Great Recession. Wait… The three things…

I can only hope that one day I will be as clever and insightful as you.
