I fear for my Dallas Cowboys (T.O.?)

Sigh.

I’m a lifelong Dallas fan. T.O. won’t change that.

But still.

Sigh.

I am a Giants fan but I don’t think Dallas fans are stupid, so I would guess the poll is being answered by other NFC east fans.

Jim

It should be noted that his “antics” appear to sap more out of his team then his talent adds.

You’re comparing Bill Parcells to Andy Reid? I’m not sure that’s a fair comparison. The situation in philly was allowed to get way out of control. It shouldn’t have gone on as long as it did…that’s Andy Reids fault if you ask me. Bill Parcells won’t make the same mistake.

Plus Mr. Rosenhaus fucked up and I think he knows it. He wants to squeeze as much out of T.O. as he possibly can which means keeping him in line.

T.O. will always have a big mouth, I’m sure of that, but I think he’ll be a little more careful from now on.

Reid does have a reputation as a nice guy and a player’s coach, doesn’t he?

I’m just saying he clearly had no control over the situation. I’m also saying that if it had been Bill Parcells, someone would’ve been punted out of there a lot sooner.

Right. Between all the trouble Owens has had in the last year and the shorter leash he’d have with Parcells, Owens may behave better, for longer.

Thats all I’m saying, I don’t expect any miracles.

Well… I just contributed my input: A) SIGN THE MAN!

(why yes, I am a Dallas hater)

Looks like our (non-Cowboys fans) prayers will be answered!

I guess I will have to hold my nose as I cheer for my 'Boys.

The 'Girls better make the Super Bowl next year, because after that Owens will rip that team apart so badly that it’ll be years until they’re competitive again.

Not that I have any problem with that.

bwahahahahahaha!

good…hope the cowboys suck SO badly that all the bandwagon fans have to mothball their jerseys.
now…if we can just fix the lions…audible sigh

Well, it’s a done deal. T.O. is a Dallas Cowboy on a three-year contract.

Jerry Jones essentially says there is risk in every sigining, and that’s just part of the NFL.

T.O. says he will embrace the star, this is a new beginning, and he’s learned form his mistakes.

There is a heavy emphasis on the “fresh start” and that you can’t always predict how the future will pan out based upon the past.

How do we know this won’t turn out like T.O. did in SF and Philly? “Blah blah blah … fresh start … blah blah blah … you must take risk in life.”

Only $5M signing bonus? If he flames out after a year, it’s not going to be a problem to cut him. I can’t wait to see him run past all those Philly DBs, especially with some OL signings to give Drew some time and Julias some room. Now if we can just get a FS and maybe an OLB. Hmmm, perhaps raiding the Redskins cuts with a similar deal?

I think we should get the EPA to prevent this. With Parcells, Jones, and T.O. all in the same building the combined ego-density is sure to cause some sort of problem in the space-tim continuum.

That team is just screwed.

Probably right. Which just means he’ll be punted out of here soon.

Don’t forget, Philly was Owen’s choice. He lobbied and fought to get there, because he wanted to play with Reid & McNabb. Dallas, OTOH, is just where he’s wound up. You think that he’s going to be happy with a hard-ass coach and an over-the-hill QB? With a run-first offense and good players at WR and TE to take catches away from him? When there are already rumors his new teammates don’t want him?

This signing was all about one thing; Jerry Jones’ ego.

I despise Jerry Jones to a degree well beyond any other public figure and it just makes me sick he ever had the means to try and come in and pretend to buy himself any measure of respect. He’s taken a proud, honorable franchise and tainted it with his slimey, classless persona.

Since the first day, he’s tried to project himself as both a judge of football talent and a valuable resource to the coach. There’s nothing he wants more than to be perceived as a savvy football guy. The reality is that he absolutely sucks at both.

His attempts to wrangle credit from Jimmy Johnson were well documented and cost him both a Super Bowl coach and a chance at a record that might never have been broken… 5 straight championships.

His personnel decisions have been atrocious and have kept the Boys mired in mediocrity for the past decade… passing on Moss, insisting on Eddie George and Quincy Carter just to name a couple. With each failure he is then compelled to take bigger chances with the next. Now he’s setting himself up for the most spectacular failure of them all. Plus, with T.O. he’s also quite possibly again cost himself a Super Bowl coach. No way this was Bill’s call and I don’t see him sticking around if Jones is pulling this kind of crap.

In the end though, whether T.O. succeeds or not, Jones got what he wanted… himself on prime time and an increase in visibility and ticket sales. Jones measures success different than you or I and I wouldn’t even for all his money want to be his despicable, pitiful, devoid of class self.

What a laughable, megalomaniacal jerk.

Wow, you sound like a Bitter Yankee Fan talking about George “The Boss” Steinbrenner. At least before 1996.
