I Got A Job Offer!!!

This is neither mundane nor pointless to me, but since I’m mostly a lurker, it’s probably MPSIMS to you all. But I’m SO HAPPY!

A JOB OFFER!!! WOOHOO!!!

The job market here is really difficult, and I’ve been looking for 3 months. I’ve had a temp job for the last 6 weeks that’s been mostly paying the bills, but I’m SO HAPPY that I get to do a REAL JOB soon. It even pays better than I was hoping and has good benefits.

YAY!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I know how exciting it can be…my husband has been an IT contractor ever since we met, and in March, the company he was temping for hired him full time (and had no trouble paying him what he asked for - he wishes he had asked for more!). AND THEN, the company I was temping for (since June) hired ME full time as of March 31 (they offered the $ I was going to ask for, plus I get free benefits - FREE!!! - 5 days of vacation, like 5 personal/sick days, and 14 paid holidays).

I never knew just how nice job security could be. sigh

Mucho congratos.

Whatcha gonna be doin’?

I’m going to be a conflicts analyst at a law firm here in Denver…the same job I did at a firm in San Francisco, actually. There aren’t very many people with conflicts experience, so I was pretty sure I had a good shot. I’m going back to CA this weekend for a wedding, so I won’t start til the middle of next week.

But I’m so happy! Thanks for asking, White Lightning. How is your job going?

What’s a conflicts analyst do? I’m happy for you… and really glad you found something you’ll enjoy doing out there.

My job’s going great! Thanks for asking. I got a raise at my 120-day review and sales are slow so I’m working less hard than ever! Every day I come closer to achieving my dream job of getting paid to do nothing but screw around online all day. I’m just kidding. I work pretty hard. But I like it a lot. Thanks for asking.

Congratulations! I’ve just finished my 5th week on the job and I still remember how happy I was to have one.

White Lightning, I know where you’re coming from. Even though I can pretty much forget time to screw around on the internet, this job has got real dream job potential (or nightmare potential, but that’s beside the point). They even know that I know of this wonderful website where people have answers to pretty much any question. Some of them are even right answers. :Looks around innocently:

At my job I’ve acquired some cachet as a type of ‘answer man’ because I know how to use Google. Somebody’s sister took a trip to Italy and she was wondering aloud what the time difference was – 30 seconds, one search later – boom, I told her. She seriously thought it was magic. Does anybody know the phone number of the post office in the next town over? ::crickets chirp:: 30 seconds, one search – boom, I do. One day about a month ago I was so fed up with the glurge that some of the other CSRs forward around the department, I got onto Snopes and a couple other debunking sites and forwarded my own anti-glurge back around the entire office. They seriously think I’m some kind of witch doctor now.

And, kicker of kickers – there was a discussion of the whole bathtub-drains-the-other-way-in-the-Souther-Hemisphere thing the other day, and I proudly sent over the link to the relevant SD Classic Column. Unfortunately, however, I was stymied when someone uncorked the unbeatable “No, you’re wrong, I saw it on the Simpsons” argument.
So, um, yeah, that was totally off-topic. cjhoworth, so glad you’re enjoying your new position as well! I recall that it took some effort on your part to find one. Sure helps to remember, on those gray Monday mornings, how much better it is to be employed than not to be. For me at least.

Good for you mlerose! This is awesome.
Great news. Go out and celebrate!
