Every man I have ever dated, whether black or white, has done this in the privacy of his home. I thought that was pretty much universal. I guess it’s making it’s way into the street, but I have to say I have never seen it.

ccwaterback I realise now your intent with the OP and have to say I agree that this ‘phenomona’ is pretty stupid. I also realise that your rant isn’t as racist as I first percieved but it is hard to distinguish how you meant to say it - online the written word can be inflected with all sorts of meaning by the reader, I just happened to percieve it as a gross generalisation that all black people are crotch grabbers when my experience is to the contrary.
No problem at all. I know anytime I open a pit thread I will suffer the slings and arrows from people that insert their own interpretation to my intent. It is indeed hard to tell tone of voice, and slant of eyebrow, in the written word.
This is a common practice when a bunch of guys get together (not in public) and they are grab-assing around being sarcastic, then it’s funny. Or like you say, when I guy is in the privacy of his own home. My point was guys that do it when they are in the company of total strangers. It’s like the first thing they do when they enter the room. Like, hello, let me introduce you to my dick.
Well, i’ve lived in the US for over three years, in a predominantly black city (Baltimore), and i can honestly say i’ve never seen a black man grabbing his crotch on the street.
And, as i don’t have MTV, i can’t comment on the prevalence of this sort of behaviour in the media.

Interesting, this could just be a regional phenomenon. I have lived in Chicago and now Florida, Chicago had it bad, FL not so bad, but it’s still prevalent. I don’t see older black guys doing this, unless it’s the natural package-shifting thing all guys seem do occasionally, it’s just the younger guys, college and high school mostly, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying. Perhaps it is just a passing fad, just young guys emulating their rap stars, we can only hope so.
