I Got Nuttin’… The Worst Ever MMP

Bah, all these new fangled contraptions. I’ll just stick with my good old fashioned cell phone.

And by cell phone, you mean the type of phone that Otis uses when he’s in his cell in Mayberry, right?

Speaking of which, where’s VBob today?

Mindfield since I’m using Verizon right now, that means I need the 700p, I’d guess. So thank you.

I’m between you and DC and the roads here are dry. I was in Bowie a few hours ago - it’s just a bit east of DC, and it was pretty much dry - temps in the low 40s hereabouts today. So you should be OK.

I haven’t been to Potomac Mills in eons. But I do remember every time we went, the traffic sucked swampwater. Have fun!

Scruffy was deposited at the vet shortly after 9, and I headed to 301N enroute to Bowie. I stopped at WalMart for a few things, and got myself 4 new shirts, 2 on sale! I got some other stuff, too, and I mostly just wandered around the store. Then I drove to Target to look around in there a bit, spending nothing. Suddenly, it was time to go.

So, I met up with **MamaTigs ** and palebunny at the BBQ place only to discover that they don’t open till 7PM?!?!?!??!?! So we went to the other place I had mentioned, which happens to be the restaurant where my sweetie and I dined with **Cartooniverse ** a year ago or so when he was in DC - the trip when he got The Chandelier.

Anyway, it was a bit busy, but we chatted the idle time away, and decided that **swampy ** has a moral obligation to come here and visit us. No excuses - the decision has been made! We also shared tales of animals, weird family members, men, life, and probably other stuff I can’t recall.

I, of course, took my camera and forgot it was in my purse, so no pics. But when we were done lunching, we adjourned to my van where each of them picked a hunk o’pottery from the **FCM ** Primitive Collection[sup]TM[/sup] - I’ll try to get pics posted this weekend of the rest I intend to give away.

On the way home, I stopped at the grocery store for a few goodies, and now I’m just relaxing, waiting for the vet to call. **FCD ** called them earlier and apparently she’d had her bloodwork and xrays. The vet didn’t know she was a stray we took in, and she said Scruffy was going to be one expensive stray. You’d’a thunk she’d have given us a discount!! Oh well. It’s just money…

I was going to do laundry when I got home, but I can’t get motivated.

We had a lovely lunch with FCM, even if it wasn’t BBQ. I left my camera sitting at home, so I didn’t take any pics, either. Lots of good conversation, and then we each selected our own FCM Original™ pot to take home. We’ll have to do it again soon!

And then Palebunny and I came home and collected the dogs and ran errands. Most notably, we stopped by the Lovely Yarn Store, which is having its big winter sale, and I got a bunch of Noro Silk Garden Lite at 15% off. Plus put my name in the basket for one of their gift certificate door prizes, which I cannot wait to spend once I win.

Now I should do some work, but Papa Tigs wants to go goof off this evening instead. And who am I to let a little work get in the way of goofing off?

I’m jealous. I can attest to the “nice, damittness” of FCM. She is one super lady. When I went to Alexandria, Va last year, she was nice enough to drive all that way from her home to pick me up so she, I, welby and welbywife could have dinner together. I had a great time.

I think you ALL have a moral obligation to come visit here in the PNW so we can do a MMP Fest. Swampy, tell TPTB that you are overdue for a visit here. I’m sure there’s someone that could use your assistance or overseeing here.

I am ever so glad it’s Friday! I have an actual appointment tomorrow to get my long locks shorn. Don’t worry, I don’t plan to shave myself bald or anything. Seeing as how my hair now reaches pretty much past the middle of my back, I’m thinking that cutting off two to four inches will be no big deal. Daughter is getting a hair cut and style too.

Well, back to that STOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIT program I’m trying to use. I posted a “Help!” thread in GQ, but it appears no one uses this program. Edward the Head has been nice enough to try and help, but admits he hasn’t used the program either. I’ve tried some of his suggestions, but they don’t work. They sounded like the SHOULD work, but unfortunately this mapping program defies logic. I may not need a haircut tomorrow, as I will have pulled all of it out before the day is over.

It’s been a lazy day around here. I’ve done some chores, had a nap, and right now I’m making chili and spaghetti sauce in very big pots. The sketti sauce has red wine in it. Yum.

I might do some sweeping.

Yawn.

What I really want to do is mindless consumerism. I hope QD wants to go shopping tomorrow. We’re also probably going to watch a friend of ours play at a restaurant tomorrow night. Should be fun. The friend’s wife has taken some bellydance classes. I am hoping we can chat about dance stuff.

In the interim I should probably clean the table and beat back the disorder in the kitchen.

I’m supposed to fly out to the West Coast? Why don’t you all come here? It’s nice here! There are…

uh…
pigeons?

meekly Yes.

He was there as well, but stayed as far away from each other as we could. We didn’t ignore each other or anything, and I’m pretty sure no one noticed anything out of the ordinary, but he didn’t join me in the kitchen for a smoke like he usually does, or offer to drive me home (again, like he usually does). All in all, an thankfully uneventful evening. I even managed to enjoy myself. On Wednesday, when we had class together, the effort of pretending that nothing had happened was physically nauseating, but now I feel fine. Thanks (to all of you!) for the concern - it means a lot.

ARGH. My thesis proposal is driving me nuts. I feel like I have to rewrite it all over again.

On a completely unrelated note, I’ve just found out that I have 3 kinds of Pop Tarts in my pantry. :dubious: I need to stop buying those things.

Y’know - I woke up this morning and had this odd feeling I’ve lived thru this day before…

long day that was made longer by a long, unecessary meeting, rehashing something we’d been doing a particular way for many months with no complaints from our clients, then all of a sudden in January, it changed, and no one will own up to who changed it. So we spent 45 minutes restating the same thing over and over and ended up back with what we’d been diong prior to the change.

Y’know - I woke up this morning and had this odd feeling I’ve lived thru this day before…

Whew! End of a crazy, but very satisfying, work week here. I’m reallly feeling good about they way things are going at work, and I really like a couple of the new coworkers. It makes life so much better when you like your job! I never knew!

Now off to face the frigid temps. They’re saying it’s not going to get above 0 tomorrow or Sunday!

Whatever I have, it feels like it’s going to turn into bronchitis. I’ve been drinking lots of fluids, trying to keep everything thinned out and the fever at a manageable level. Once my temp gets over 99F, reality and I tend to part ways.

However, I had to post this: When Nuns Go Bad. Maybe I’m loopy with fever, but this struck me as extremely funny.

Work work work work…

Nuns gone bad? Holy shit!
That made me smile. I just see 55 Greek women, all in black, fussing inside those walls…it’s like something out of Monty Python.
I have working on my IPL project for my Reference class. I have to answer a practice question. Who knew I’d pick a hard one? How hard could it be to find pics of medieval fashions on the internet? Guess what–it’s damned hard to find a good source. Still looking…

Off to bed soon. Apparently the 2 hour nap I took this afternoon wasn’t enough.

Did I tell you all that I got a clean bill of health from the doc on Tuesday? All my labs/Xrays and EKG are normal. So why do I sleep every afternoon? (checks self for Spanish blood, neccesitating a siesta…nope).

Scruffy is home, and our VISA is steaming a bit. She’s spayed, tumors are gone, her lungs are clear, and she’s had her teeth cleaned. The vet said she may lose a molar in the back. She’s got a bunch of Frankenscars on her belly, but she doesn’t seem any the worse for wear. If we can just keep her from chewing her stitches…

Speaking of stitches, she goes back next week to have them removed, if she hasn’t eaten them all by then.

Dogs - sheesh!

Good Friday evening! I have worked, laundered, and taken a four hour nap(rigs, I think we are related). An old roomie of mine might be coming down, his mom is in the hospital. I am doing a bit of cleaning tonight(why I don’t know, he was a worse slob than me.).

BooFae, glad Shadow is doing better.

FCM, I got the reference, because I still have a record player(and a Don Ho LP). I will be 36 on the 10th, so I don’t know if that is a “youngster”. Glad Scruffy is detumored.

brainpasutre, her mother is from Iceland, so -30 is hot. Her dad was Cuban, so she is an Ice-Cube.

Taters, my family is holding a reunion at Mt. Rushmore in July, I’ll wave.

Thanks for all the info, Nava. All my experience with TV in Spanish is from Mexico and they don’t seem to broadcast much from TVE (that I’ve noticed, anyway). Seems like Spanish-language TV everywhere else is pretty different (at least from what I’ve read and heard from friends).

I’ve never watched much TV, but there are a few Mexican shows that I remember pretty well. My favorite was Los Caudillos which was about the history of Mexico from the War of Independence to somewhere in the mid-1800s. It was the only telenovela we were allowed to watch and it’s the only reason I have a reasonable knowledge of that part of Mexican history. (And it was really romantic, too.)

I’ll go to the PNW if everyone else is going! Or to Toronto! Or everyone could come here. We have mmm…a zoo. Also, lots of shopping opportunities. And 2 Trader Joe’s. And nice restaurants.

Keep up the good behavior, Hank. Oh…and get that thesis proposal done, young lady! (Does it help if I tell you it’s really important?)

Nice to hear everyone had a nice lunch. Although it’s disappointing that there aren’t any pictures. I thought pictures from Dopefests were a rule.

I’m hanging out after a long long week. I got stuff done by the end of the day, which was good, but now I’m tired. Should be a pretty relaxing weekend, I hope. (Although I have a bunch of valentines to put together. All I want is a point where I can take a few days off. And it looks like it’s not any time soon. :frowning:

Time for beddy-bye…

GT

Well, considering that my preceptor has been telling me the same thing for weeks with little affect, I’d say probably not. :stuck_out_tongue: But I promise I’ll try. tries to pry self away from SDMB

Gah, what a day. At least I didn’t have to eat Vicks.

I had a table top crisis simulation today - that was interesting. About 66 cops, EMT’s, school people… all going through a made up scenario about a school shooting. Good learning experience.

Then I ditched for the rest of the day, and went downtown to get some pictures of all the Bears helmets on sculptures, the NFC trophy and the like. Wife, child and I just got home from dinner, I started a fire, got a kitty purring next to me, and all is right with the world.

Except I need a beer.

Must rectify that.

did I mention I was able to get a dentist appointment tomorrow morning?

I have no idea why I am up so late, except that I’ve been JigZoning.

So, what was Punxatawny Phil’s verdict?

No shadow - early spring.

Right now it’s 6 degrees Merrkun.

So…early spring sounds okey dokey with me.
