I’ll second, or third, or whatever the people who said “eat what you feel like.”
The past few weeks (when I take time to eat breakfast, which I’m not great about), I’ve been eating a lot of ham dipped in hummus (the process isn’t very elegant but standards at my place have slipped as I’m single at the moment).
Before that I was buying big Italian deli sandwiches and then eating the filling out of them (bizarre and wasteful I know but I’m not a big bread fan but I do like the extra stuff – onions, peppers, oil and vinegar – that come with the cold cuts in sandwich form).
I agree completely with the original post. Even when I was little and wee, I hated breakfast. When I get up out of bed <after the first few minutes of sleepy-eyed blinking>, I am pretty damn awake. Gimme my diet pepsi and I’m good to go! But eating much of anything else just makes me tired and/or hungry for the rest of the day. O.o
Found my solution, though it’s work-dependant as I’m entirely too lazy to do this myself. Our personnel kitchen makes a terrific chicken and veggie fry-up. It’s just…chopped chicken panfried quick with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. Judging from the taste, it’s probably got someone’s leftover bacon in there too, cause it’s really good. AND…I discovered this way that protein is much, much better at keeping me awake, alert and not hungry than coffee EVER is. Though I still drink coffee on occasion 'cause it tastes good.
Oh, and I’ve always loved the idea of soup for breakfast.
What was my breakfast today? Why, the same it is every Friday and Monday at work…posole!! <3
10 minutes after I wake up is not the time to spring an inordinate amount of grease and fat on my stomach. But if the world made sense men would ride side-saddle.
I usually have a can of SlimFast for breakfast. I used to be able to eat solid food, but as I’ve gotten older, the thought of a slice of pizza or bacon and eggs just usually turns my stomach in the morning, even though I might be able to eat them later in the day. Nowadays, it’s either the Slimfast or some buttered toast.
I had kippers and fruit for breakfast the other day. I thought this was odd, but I have since learned that kippers are eaten for breakfast in some parts of the world.
Oh my yes! kippers are one of the stereotypical UK breakfast foods (especially when you stay in a hotel and don’t have to stink the house out cooking them)
Much like me. I used to eat breakfast but then found that a bowl of cereal first thing made me hungrier by mid morning than if I ate nothing. I can’t stomach a “meal” for breakfast so I have a scoop of high protein/low carb powder in a large glass of water. An hour later I usually have a tea or coffee. Keeps me going until 1 or 2 easily.
I’m not a big breakfast person, so I used to make this great breakfast shake deal. I’d take a cup of yogurt or milk, whatever random fruit I have, a bit of raw oatmeal and some instant coffee. I’d blend it all together and down it in three good gulps. It didn’t taste good but it didn’t taste bad, and it got the job done.
I have peanut butter on toast most weekday mornings. This seems like it would work for the OP. Protein, no sugar, goes with coffee, not a lot of work. Get the coffee started, and you can have the toast done before the coffee is finished brewing.
