I hate when I do that in the MMP! - old

Hot ‘n’ steamy with a good schmear of Vicks Vapo-Rub should help.

Where you’re sleeping, or where you’re working?

Kind of a minimum standard. I’m glad you’re in a somewhat better place.

Sometimes canned tuna. Sometimes a slice of 'Murrican chz.

Went with the black bean soup. It’s simmering with bacon and kielbasa, onions, garlic, cumin, chili powder, a bay leaf, and several healthy glugs of chicken broth so it can boil away and concentrate down all those flavors.

My gawd, it smells so good.

I have some stale bread (the not-so-great rolls, which hardened instead of molding) so that might go in later to make a sort of bread soup style thickener.
Once I get home.

Managed to remember to go to exercise this morning, after a breakfast of savory oatmeal topped with a fried egg and bacon. Walked up the stairs again on the way back. Had a bit of leftover Thai food for lunch. Otherwise, it’s been a very quiet day.

Afternoon all. Swimming and sauna are done for the day, so that leaves trash collection and movement to the curb as the only remaining task for the day. Pretty good weather, no rain and 71F, so comfortable both inside and out. Ham-n-Cheese for tonight’s repast.

Oopsie, glad to hear repairs are coming along. Usually takes a day to dry, unless there are air blowers to help it along (in my experience). Conga-rats on the LEGO And I concur that even with the popcorn shell gone, getting it checked is still a good idea.

JtC, nice of you and Hubs to safely return the baby vole to your yard, where he can be eaten by a fox or a hawk…

Hippie, that is a lovely goal for 2024.

shoe, your juvenile delinquent is going to get himself grounded. And lovely candle, looks like a parfait. Soup sounds mmmm…mmmm…good in a non-Campbell way. Enjoy.

Cat Glove, always wanted to go to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival (presume that was where he was), but not enough to do the early planning and logistics for it. Hope he enjoyed himself.

Feel better soon, swampy; slothage isn’t as much fun when you’re feeling bad.

Still to early to consider the evening meal, may actually have to do some housework to fill in the time. Take care all.

Can’t add much to that just above. Sorry to hear Swampy is under the weather.

Nature is not a 1960s Disney movie. Not even a little bit.

Got some useful admin done, walked to late breakfast with Her Ladyship, then solo beaching in the hot part of the day. Considering dinner plans now.

Cheers all!

I hope you feel better soon, sinus infections are not much fun.

Still thinking of nellie.

Actually, I’d bet on the neighbors’ cat before a hawk got it in that part of the yard. I’d bet on old age before I bet on a fox, though, LOL!

Is nobody a pea fan?

I had lunch with NF and we have our trip to Dallas sorted. She was very entertained to learn that the reason I spent my life in government work is because I was never qualified to flip hamburgers at McDonalds or sell beer at the local 7-11 due to those pesky pee tests.

That sounds like a lot of fun, but he will probably so tired that he won’t notice if the place is presentable or not.

New Mexico has some pretty landscapes, I’ll bet they are lovely from balloons.

Fresh or frozen, yes. Canned, NONONONONO.

Yep!

Nope (not in mac anyway, Mom used to try to pull that one off on Fridays).

{{{nellie}}} Sending healing hugs.

JtC, I’ll just bet that GG was proud of his gift to you. Nelson was when he caught one too.

I really like that batik quilt project hippy.

Mooooooom, I do quesadillas on my cast iron comal , so if you have a griddle or shallow skillet, you can still make your ham and cheese wrap.

Feel better soonest swampy. The trees are doing pretty things, so a lot of us are having breathing issues.

We had an early out today and have a late start tomorrow. I took Nelson to the dog park, then came home and worked on a small water color project (the remnents of a kit that I can make a pretty card from). I’ll work on it some more later, since I have a couple of extra hours to stay up tonight.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Back when I had a gas stove (sob), I used to slice my cheddar, then simply turn on the fire and flop a ~8" tortilla right on the burner. Wait ~10 seconds, turn it over by hand, repeat 3 or 4 times, then move it to a plate, lay out the cheese on top, and roll it up. The cheese softens enough to glue the roll closed, but not enough to be dripping out on your belly. Besides, they take about 12 seconds to eat, so there’s not time for much melty-drippy to happen. Then make another one the same way.

This. But the ideas of peas of any nature in macaroni is gross.

As to cans - Canned beans are just fine. Canned fruit is nostalgic kid food tasty in small doses occasionally. Canned vegetables are suitable only for donating to causes you don’t actually like.

Sandwich dinner has been ‘et, Her Ladyship is about to launch some more psychopathic vids, the sun is just down, and the crescent moon is spectacular in the western sky. I’m balconatin’ while it’ still warmer outside than in. No cause for rants here.

Hope we can get an update on Nellie and there’s something we can really do for her.

I get canned veggies in the surplus boxes once in a while. Chicken owners don’t seem very keen on feeding them to their birds.

Kinda the way I look at it, except for beets. I like canned beets.

MIL called today to say she wants us to come the last weekend this month to get her, with one caveat. Her oldest remaining sister (96 years old) has gone into hospice. She has cancer and it’s spread thru her body. She also has dementia. If she dies before next Firday, MIL will stay for the funeral, so it may delay us going to get her. So we shall see.

I pulled a hunk of poke out of the freezer to make pulled poke for MIL. I’ll toss it in the slo-cooker tomorrow with some onion and celery and BBQ sauce. It should make enough for 2 or 3 meals and it’ll be easy to freeze. While digging for it, I discovered I have a LOT of chicken in there, so I see her getting some chicken dishes too.

But not tonight. Chillage beckons.

The Spousal Unit had a TJ’s kebab and TJ’s tzatziki in a low-carb spinach & herb tortilla, and Kalamata olives. I had two kebabs, tzatziki, kalamata olives, and TJ’s feta cheese onna plate.

Mrs. L.A. just remarked, ‘Good dinner!’

Canned tomatoes / tomato sauce / tomato paste are staples in my pantry.

My oversight. Thank you. Canned tomatoes of all forms get a pass. Other canned vegetables do not.

Canned black and kidney beans get a pass too. Agreed all other canned veg, no.

cookie seems like your knee replacement rehab has gone quite well with you exercising and walking up stairs. Good for you!

metalmouse yes, his college buddy lives in a suburb of Albuquerque where the hot air balloons glide right past, sometimes even landing in the field behind their house, although none did this year. Hubs always sends a number of snaps and vids of the balloons. My fav is the cow hot air balloon. Moooo. Yes, he enjoyed himself very much.

I concur. During Lent (or maybe it was every Friday) Mom used to make tuna noodle casserole (which was very good) or fish sticks (which were edible) or a tuna rice canned peas with some kind of crunchy topping casserole (yuck)

So canned fruit is ok.

Evening all. Garbage and Recyclables are both at the curb and the dishwasher is running a full load, so I’m reading the Dope’ and watching You Tube vids until it is done, which should be close to bedtime. Have filled my belly, just got to watch out for snacking (shouldn’t have bought that Halloween candy so early…). Still above 60F outside so looks like a nice night.

So, coyotes?? Enjoy the Dallas trip next year.

Not a pea eater, either frozen, canned or fresh from the pods, just never cared for them.

FCM, guess it’s a sign we’re getting old when someone’s death is expected to affect your schedule; enjoy your chillage.

Cat Glove, I remember when I was young (early 20’s) I would sometimes chase a hot-air balloon around for an hour or so, trying to be where it landed. Even was in place to assist them staying on the ground once or twice.

OK, those vids aren’t going to watch themselves. Take care all.

Today was an excellent day at the new job. They decided that their trainee should do the talking to clients while the trainer ran the computer end of the operation. I might be an introvert but I have learned how to schmooze with the best of them. I don’t think they were ready for my level of talking ability. I even got known curmudgeons wishing me a good day when we hung up. That was fun. Tiring but fun. Now I need to crawl back into my shell and heal from all the energy output. Two more days and then a day off.

And, yeah, it’s the irkplace that is reputed to have bedbugs, but several employees think they are gone. Hard to tell as the place is already a dive.

{{{nellie}}} sending you strength and healing.

Sending you healing as well, swampy. Dress warm, drink tea or broth.

metalmouse, thank you for the education on N Ali Bama weather. Seeing as I’m from Minnesnowta, I know from cold. But warmish winters confound me just as much as my wandering around the office (and outdoors) in Jackson, MS in a short-sleeve shirt confounded the team of folks I was working with on an unusual 22F day there once.

Shoe, titling your candle the 70s sweater made me LOL, but I think it is missing an orange stripe to be truly 70s. I also think it looks better without an orange stripe. Nice job.

Oops, bedtime approaches. have a good day tomorrow all. Tomorrow is the day I get to try to run the computer end of our transactions and I still have lots of questions on it.

I don’t think we can be friends anymore!

Coyotes are fairly likely, I haven’t seen any in our fenced back yard but you never know. We put the vole on the other side of one of the outbuildings, next to the fence. That area doesn’t have anything growing, but the other side of the fence has lots weeds and shelter for little rodents. Heck, it probably came from there…

Hubs learned that the company that bought the place behind us sold it to a different but connected company that does rentals. So, there will be renters back there again, le sigh. On the other hand, this means they actually will be fixing up the trailer that is there and won’t bring in something that would block more of my view. The current trailer doesn’t have any windows on the back end, and the new one probably would. That means I won’t get light annoying me when I’m trying to look at something in the sky.

You don’t want to eat that stuff, it isn’t nearly as good as it was when you were 12 and you will have sad thoughts the next morning. If you are going to eat candy, get some of the good stuff and ration it. You/me might not be able to control your eating when it’s a bunch of cheap junk, but when you are eating chocolate that costs 2 bucks a bite, you tend to eat it differently.

You are doing great with your weight loss and deserve something sweet once in a while, but not that cheap junk you have now. (Besides being waxy and oversweet, it’s probably old and stale too.)

That is great. I know all about the talking burnout, though. Keeping up the patter while simultaneously solving problems is harder than it looks.

TIL that chicken egg color depends on their diet as well as their breed. The man who keeps chickens for eggs only feeds them commercial chicken feed. I started giving him deadfall fruit and our excess produce (after sharing it with NF) because I thought his chickens deserved a little treat now and then too.

The first dozen eggs he gave us were laid before I knew what he was feeding and they were almost all white or very light brown.

Today I picked up a dozen while dropping off my surplus box excess and noticed that the eggs were all medium to dark brown, so asked Google why. I am taking that as a sign that I am successfully spoiling his birds, so mission accomplished.

Too much salt?

They’re so different from other canned veg that in at least one supermarket I used to go to, they were in separate aisles.

Oooh, do you have a picture you can share with us?

:medal_sports:

Man, we were dead tonight. One single order during the whole final Panic Hour - which tonight was the “sitting around shooting the shit” hour - and I think we had one order a half hour earlier.

Bleah. So boring. Came home with a full tummy, though, because we had lots of nibbles and snax.
Fast close, too.

Now it’s raining lightly - the weather was considerate enough to hold off until juuust when I got home.

My little delinquent is jingle-bell-ing around, because I’m hoping he won’t go far in the wet.

Time to chillax a bit.

That’s because they aren’t veggies, they are fruit. But yeah, there are so many different varieties of tomato sauces and pastes and stewed and crushed, etc. that they need an entire aisle to themselves.

The javalina are back again. The only reason I can see for this is that they can smell when I’ve watered the trees and they want some. Tomorrow I will try to remember to call the folks in charge of putting water out for them and see what’s going on.

They can’t do much damage in our yard now that I’ve covered the base of the new tree with plastic lattice to stop them from digging, but I still don’t want them out on the very dark streets after dark. That’s why we pay people to haul water out into the desert for them.
