Swampy, when you skritch your belly, does your leg thump?
You know how they make roach bombs; do they make ammonia ones too?
Fried up some N.O.T. pancakes as part of din-din & the kitchen is a M-E-S-S!
P.S. Dogtrap, please explain this week’s title, you want more fever like you want more cowbell or do you want to cure your fever with more cowbell? Does that work on kidlets or just Christopher Walken?
Spidey when OYKW skritches my belly things do indeed thump but I’m tryin’ to be a little less TMI.
I think in a few minutes I shall go join OYKW in the boudoir to watch teevee etc until sleepy time.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Spidey I was gonna ask the same thing about the title of this weeks MMP.
We had hamburgers, baked beans and macaroni salad for supper. Fast and easy. I is tahred and have made up my mind to try to go to sleep as soon as it gets dark.
Maybe use puppy housetraining pads as liners?
Swampy, I specifically stated when you skritch your own belly. Now, instead of ammonia bombs, I need 'em made of brain bleach. ::shudder::
You really should know better by now than to open the door for the King of TMI like that.
Conga-rats Metal Mouse! Enjoy your Last… Week… On… The Base.
Crabapple trees are da bomb. I don’t mean the kind I remember from being a kid, whose main function in life was to make crappy apples. Nope, I mean the modern variants that mostly just make lots and lots of flowers. I have a big one in front of the Oregon house that has mostly white flowers, with just a hint of pink. I think it’s a “double” (lots of petals). The whole yard smells great, and when the petals start falling it looks like it snowed around the tree. I endorse your crabapple tree wish.
Ooh, ooh! You have just reminded me of the letter I received from State Farm on Saturday. They had sent me a check for $500, and were wondering why I had not cashed it. Would I like another one to replace it? Why, yes! Yes I would.
Truer words were never written. Do not feed your animals early. This ends badly. Often with a 24-hour cycle of food demands. They just want to be free fed, with people food, and why aren’t you waiting on them right now!! It’s a good thing they’re so cute.
Today has been surreal and taxing. I’ll try for tomorrow is another day, and move on for now.
Hugs and get wells to all in need!
I have not begun to blurf.
I may tomorrow since I’m pulling a double to help with our launch of by-us (but not by me) home delivery. If this experiment works, look for white trucks with big smiles on them in your neighborhood within 6 years.
Our front is barely large enough for a single grave.
(You know — sometimes how I think of things frightens even me!)
Swampbear, the Dog Whisperer.
Today, April 26th 2016, is the 40th anniversary of my family’s house fire.
I was 6 years old when I was woken frantically by my mother, who had awoken, smelt smoke, checked the lounge room and was blocked by flame, woke Dad, went out the side door and back into the house to our bedrooms, woke my two sisters, my brother and me, and got us out of the house just in time. We ran across the street where we watched from our neighbour’s living room as our house burned down to the ground.
We lost everything except the car.
I worked, I got stuff done. Hawks lost tonight.
Ruble, it’s only creepy if you add, “so I bury 'em standing up ,and they’re still stacked 3 deep.”
Spidey, like Walken, I have a fever for more cowbell. Because it means Hockey Night in Carolina again.
Six hours before it starts up again. At least you can point and laugh at all the yellow-green cars…
That’s not the reason for the post-hole digger and auger in my garage. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
(Besides I keep a garden in the back for emergencies like that. Ooops – maybe I shouldn’t have said that.)
     What happened then? Did you live with relatives for a while? In a hotel? How long did it take to set up another household? Do you know what caused the fire? How did your 6-y/o self deal with it?
Almost 30 years ago around Christmas, we were staying with my then-pregnant sister and her husband with our toddler daughter. In the middle of the night, the smoke alarm went off and it took a bit for it to register. My husband figured it all out first - he made the rest of us go out and sit in the car while he and my BIL dealt with the fire.
BIL had emptied what he thought were cold ashes into a cardboard box by their basement wood stove. During the night, they’d ignited and caught the vertical blinds on fire. BIL grabbed the burning box and carried it out to the snow-filled yard, burning his hands a bit. My husband managed to beat out the flames, and in the meantime, my sister called the fire dept.
Fortunately, the damage to the house was minimal - the worst was the smoke smell. And that Christmas, my mom gave them an ash bucket. Thank goodness for smoke alarms!
I’ve been up since 2:45 because that’s when I woke up - apparently I didn’t need 6 whole hours of sleep. We shall see how today goes. I’ve breakfasted and I’m caffeinating. Shortly, I’ll toss some leftover pizza into my lunch bag and head to the office. Another day in paradise! Also primary day in Md, but I can’t vote because I’m not party affiliated. OK, technically, I can vote for the one school board member, but since I don’t have a kid in school here and I know nothing about the school system or the candidates, I’ll pass.
Anyway, Happy Tuesday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, and purtified so no YAWN. We’re goin’ to Pearly’s for brekkie. YUM! 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and sunny for the day. It rained some, but not a whole lot, last night.
OK, that’s all I got for now. I hear rumblin’s from the bedroom that mean OYKW is about ready to go. We shall go forage brekkie. I’s hongry!
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Happy Toosday!
I am up way too early, I don’t know what woke me up. I never went back to sleep and now I have to stay up because the vet appointment is at 8:40.
The forecast for today has changed from a rainy 80 degrees to a mostly clear 84 degrees. It’s still dark outside so I have no idea what it will really do out there today.
**Nettie ** - his ‘bed’ is an old quilted mattress pad. It’s torn and shredded but he loves it. I’ve tried replacing it with an old bathrobe of mine, and old pillow, and a felt blanket. Nope, he wants his blankie.
He seems pretty much back to normal, making it outside in time and is even going off the porch to pee.
I forgot to tell y’all the good news. Yesterday I was informed that I won a* free* vacation at an exceptional resort. Yep, aren’t I the lucky one. However, the bad news is, the IRS is filing multiple lawsuits against me. I could be arrested any day now. I figure it I time it right,
I’ll be at the resort when the FBI comes to my house to arrest me.
But for the scary news
As you all know, I think the MD health care exchange sucks snot through a straw. Well, we know what I really think of them, but I won’t post it here. When I created my sign-on and password for the health insurance site, the name and password I chose are less than polite. Kind of embarrassing when I once had a problem logging in and the the CS person started laughing when he saw them. They pretty well express my feelings towards the site.
This morning I logged in to pay my bill and I messed up my sign-on by one digit. To my surprise, somebody else is out there with my sign on, except mine has a two in it and theirs has a three. Being that my number two is being used as a replacement for the word ‘to’, I wonder if they tried mine first? Kind of scary to me that somebody else out there thinks the same way I do. I guess I’m not the only one who got frustrated and fed up with the piece of crap site.
Ruble, I like the way you think.
{{{Batboy}}}
FCM I can’t vote either, for the same reason. I refuse to be affiliated with either side. However, I could be voting for mayor, but since I have no idea who any of those people are, I’ll leave it to the ones who do know. Until I got the ballot I didn’t even know we have a mayor.
My parents worked for a hospital, and they provided us with a house. We had insurance so rebuilt on the same lot, moving in by September '76, not even six months later.
We don’t know what caused the fire, but we had an open fireplace, so it was likely a stray spark. One possibility is it set the cat on fire, who ran around the room setting furniture and curtains aflame, and her yowling may have been what woke Mum.
I coped well enough. To me it was mostly an adventure. I don’t subsequently have any fear of fire or nightmares or anything. I do regret losing our memories, and the old house was really nice so it was a shame to lose that. The new house was smaller and boringly contemporary.
{{Guanolad}} At least you all got out of the house (yea Batboy’s Mom). Possessions and houses can be rebuilt evenutally; lives lost cannot.
Got about 75% of the signatures I need to complete my clearance paperwork. Have to call an office to remove all my passwords and such when I retire (but I don’t want to do it too soon unless they remove them immediately; I still have some work to do).
Chance of rain today and tomorrow.
I think I am sending caution to the winds and going to Moooommms Party on the 21st.
Did not sleep well at all. My step-son’s best friend killed his wife and 7 yr old son then himself this past weekend. I didn’t really know him even though he had visited with the son but it bothered me all night long. I just cannot imagine being that sad or depressed or mad or whatever. SMH.
BLURF. I am awake but that’s about it.
