Blurf.
I’m a bit bummed. Got a call from a family friend last night (VWife calls her The Mistress). Seems all her annoying little health issues weren’t so little. She’s in the oncology ward at the Georgetown horsepistol with a case of acute myeloid leukemia, the same type that claimed my father.
The docs there will kill off and reboot her immune system to beat the disease. Naturally, I offered to do whatever she needs done because she’s not leaving the ward for quite some time, and since I go see the liver doc in about three weeks, I have plans on visiting with her while I’m there. The transplant office is the floor above where she is staying.
Any ideas on how to smuggle her a six pack of gourmet root beer?
{{{{{Butters and Bobbio}}}}} I hope someone has some good news soon.
Off on the Quest for Signatures. Turing in my Official US Government Passport…now I’ll just have “Old Bluey” instead of being a double-passport man…
I don’t have any good news, but I can offer rosie’s .sig with a side of Soft Kitty to everyone.
{{{Butters}}}
I will never understand it either. Especially to kill your own child. You want to kill yourself, have at it, but leave others out of it.

Cat survived the vet visit. Clean bill of health except he needs to lose weight, he weighs 12 pounds something.
The dog finally found the cat and he doesn’t care. Sah-son told me I have to pay extra attention to the dog just in case.
MetalMouse I can’t believe your retirement is finally here. It seems like only a few weeks ago that you started the count down.
**MetalMouse **- yay! I know for sure there will be at least 2 other Mumpers besides me, so maybe your appearance will encourage a few others to make the trek. Plus I always like to meet my imaginary intrarwebs friends!
**sari **- you’d better pencil in the party right now! Don’t make me pout! And your son is welcome to come along if he’d like. I don’t want to have to deal with toddlers - our house isn’t child-proofed - but semi-functional adult-like offspring are welcome. Not that any of my friends have toddlers - we’re all much too vintage for that.
**Butters **- the mind is a mysterious thing, and I expect for some people it’s a really horrific place. That’s the only explanation for murder-suicides, especially involving family. Such a waste…
When I was a kid, one of our neighbors killed himself, but it wasn’t till I was an adult that my mom told me it wasn’t suicide. It was auto-erotic asphyxiation gone horribly wrong. His wife found him hanging in the basement.
Oh yeah, lunch break. I left my stoopit phone at home, so I need to be mindful of the time. Don’t wanna work over, yanno!
Would be nice to meet any and all. Got a good rate on a nonstop flight to National Airport, hotels’com got me a room for under $100 in DC for Saturday night, and the car won’t cost me until the next billing cycle.
But the best thing is I’m doing it for the hell of it, and that I can do things like that now makes me feel good…
Of course it’ll probably rain…
Well, if it rains, I *suppose *I can let everyone into the house… if I have to…
{{{butters}}} I can’t imagine the pain one would have to be in to do something like that.
{{{bobbio}}} Have you asked point blank the mistress is permitted gourmet root beer?
I’m thinking a virtual Mumper last week party for metal mouse. :calls the distributor for a keg: Who all wants to join?
I begin a volunteer gig tonight. I’ll be spending a couple of hours walking and/or socializing critters at the local shelter twice a month. I just hope that I don’t get too attached.
Actually caffeinating now - first time I’ve made coffee since Saturday. Blurf.
Bronchitis seems to finally be easing off, but I shall be careful this time. I thought the same thing last week, overdid it, and knocked myself right back into bed from Saturday evening until just now. The house is a complete wreck, and it was all I could manage to load the dishwasher and put a load of laundry into the machine.
The air conditioner ain’t conditioning. I hope it just needs to be gassed up. Or maybe the insurance will finally settle and we’ll replace the damned thing - the unit is too small, and the heater has never worked right. But it’s easier to “make do” without central heating than without a/c around here. (Obligatory weather report: 87° and climbing, 44% relative humidity, and 91° predicted for tomorrow. Blech.)
But I have coffee on board.
You’re penciled in FCM
Pizza has been ordered for dinner.
The cat is hiding beside the fridge and refuses to come out. I thought we’d let him out downstairs so maybe he’d walk around a bit. Instead he went beside the fridge and won’t come out.
I’m thinking of Percy for a name. The vet said he looks more like a Percival to her, he has a bit of a sneer to him. I’ve also consider Hobo. There’s some bed rails in the bedroom upstairs, the bed hasn’t been put together and likes to hide in them. I figure since he likes ‘riding the rails’ he could be Hobo. Is Hobo okay to use though? You never know what is PC anymore. Although I think we may default to Fraidy.
{{{hugs}}} to all.
Sari I think Hobo is fine. I think you can’t call people “hobo” -not sure why, missed the memo, makes note to check- but I think it’s fine for a cat. Fredo? Then you can default to Fraidy as a nickname. I hope the little guy gets his bearings soon.
Last night was rough here, but it’s all just too exhausting to transcribe. Short story - neighbor went off his meds, got drunk, and things didn’t quiet down until 4 deputies got involved.
Take care everyone.
Howdy Y’all! Day two has been survived. YAY! OYKW is pickin’ up some bbq sammiches and slaw from the little place that makes good to go only bbq. We have chips or I may go wild and do some oven fries. Anywho dindin will be tasty and easy.
{{{Butters}}} that is such a tragedy! As MOOOOOOM said, we never know what dark things can go on in the minds of people to make them do such as that.
MetalMouse congrats on the upcomin’ retirement. I start my three month countdown this Firday. red I’ll bring the virtual onion dip.
Sari AFAIK there is nuttin’ non-PC about Hobo. I was once told I could not name a cat Alpo.
FIL (version 1.0) named a cat “Spot”.
A friend of my parents named her terrier Pussycat
Was your FiL v1.0 a Star Trek fan?
The guy we got Taz from had named him Dog. Clever, huh… ?
Supper was chickie strips, corn, and crescent rolls - a very pale meal indeed.
I mowed the front lawn, too, so it durn well better rain! It was very dusty as I rode around and around. The weather guys say our highs the next few days will be mid-60s. It’s mid-80s at the moment. Weird weather…
And, C’mon, Firday!!!
Dindin has been ingested. I have some Ben & Jerry’s peanut butter cup ice cream. OYKW has Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream. All is well.
Swampy, I’m sorry, but you apparently do not meet the qualifications to be invited to this soiree. :o
Thanks all for the hugs. It is the innocent little child that bothers me so much. I texted my stepson and told him I am thinking of him and am sorry for his loss. He texted back thanks and it means a lot. Tommy (stepson) and the murderous friend are (were) both firefighters, helpers, first responders. I am sure this is so hard for Tommy.
I made egg salad for din din as I just did not have the drive to cook. Come on Firday indeed.
