The favorite today is HalBriston by a hair over nocturnal_tick, both of whom have won regional tournaments in order to compete here today. They are approaching the board, and…(ring) they’re off! HalBriston moves first, it’s kings pawn to queen 5 and nocturnal_ticks countermove is kings knight to rook 3 and-wait aminute! HalBriston is moving his queen’s knight all the way across the board and - KNIGHT TAKES KING! ITS CHECKMATE! IVE neverseenanythinglikeitinallmyyearsofannouncingandnow…wait a minute. The judges are ruling…it’s an illegal move! and nocturnal_tick has won by default! O its a sad day in Briston land, I can tell you! What an upset!
