I just played World of Warcraft for the first time.

LOL, I don’t do things for people because I need them to help me, I am just trying to hook you on the game so when you get high enough we can do instanced dungeons together=)

Google ‘zboard’ they have a WoW specific keyboard, I love mine=) I normally do autorun and use my right mouse button to steer with, my left right arrows are way too sensitive to be accurate. I use macros now and then to say things so I dont have to stop fighting to type=) though more on my hunter or warlock than my druid=)

=) just miscellaneous stuff that drops, or mrAru can make with leathercrafting. I tend to mail stuff to my alts and guildies/friends in game if I think they can use them, and all my alts are twinked out=) you have to learn to fish, you can sell the oily blackmouth and firefin fishes in auction for a fair amount=)

you can find that out on the worldofwarcraft.com site. /bow, /rude, /salute, /cheer, /laugh, /kneel, /roar, /chicken, /train, /sleep are the ones I know and use from time to time. You can also do special emotes that dont have actions by typing /em <whatever> which just ‘says’ Abbygnome <whatever>

Well, you can look up similar items in auction house - if you have a funky shoulder of the whale but the only one listed is a funky shoulder of the monkey, price yours the same because they are almost identical except monkey gives you agility and whale gives you stamina [i think, but essentially they are teh same except for the attribute they boost]

If they want to disenchant green items, they are looking for a skillup in disenchanting, and the resulting item that the green item will disenchant into. If you dont need the cash that you would get from selling a green item, give it to an enchanter and frequently you will get offered back a minor enchantment on something. As a leatherworker or smith or engineer you can make green items from dropped goodies, for very little cost and you can make great friends from an enchanter if you hand them some 5 or 10 green items to disenchant=)

I just created a new character on Elune and I have no idea how to find people!
I’m Viridis, a druid night elf.

Yea, World of Warcraft is certainly the best MMORPG on the market. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my account due to the fact that everytime I would go to the “main cities” my computer would stagnate to the point of ridiculousness. There was one point, where Alliance were invading the Crossroads and I just knew my computer would crash on itself any moment. My computer just can’t handle too many players on one screen (i.e more than 25 or so) hurling fireballs at each other. When I get an upgrade, I’ll definitely try to reopen my account! :slight_smile:

One thing i never understood though: why are people so addicted to the game? I got the game when it came out and after about a month and a half of playing, I think I might have gotten to level 17. Maybe 18. Am I the only person who found the game extremely repetitive?

“GO FORTH AND KILL 5 LEET QUILLBOARS!”
<next quest>
“GO FORTH AND GATHER FIVE QUILL NUTS FROM THE QUILLNUT TREE BECAUSE THE QUILLBOARS HAVE INVADED OUR HOMELAND.”
<next quest>
“BRING FORTH 10 QUILLBOAR INTESTINES WITHOUT THE DUODENUMS (YES THIS MEANS YOU NEED TO KILL MORE QUILLBOARS)”
<next quest>
“ARrrggGH!!111oneoneone, THE QUILLBOARS ARE AT IT AGAIN! GO FORTH AND KILL 120 QUILLBOARS, GATHER MORE QUILLNUTS, AND MORE INTESTINES!!!11”
<next quest>
“THANK YOU! PLZ TAKE THIS LTETER TO MY COUSIN IN RATCHET SO SHE CAN GIVE YOU MORE OF THE SAME QUESTS!!!1 thnx.”

I don’t understand the fascination. :confused:

  • Honesty

It took me a while, but I’m getting to really like the player/player interaction in this game. Never did play EQ, CS or any of the others, and a few VERY bad experiences ensured I stayed totally out of any public DII games. I watch my kidlets play Starcraft online - also totally not me.

Guess it all depends on your playstyle and what you like I guess. I HATE PK’ing, unless it’s consensual, which I very much like about WOW. I loathe FPS games -my personal distaste for firearms (hurts my ears) apparently carries over. Of course, being pwnt by an eight-year-old may, I say MAY have something to do with that.

It’s a different mindset, from what I’ve seen. :slight_smile: There’s no ladder to race for, there’s no cool end-game animation for Those-Who-Can, and no extra bennies for those who can create a character and have it be top level in a week. I personally, am working on a semi-role-play type character (pondering an RP server alt…) and having fun with it.

Judging by the forums, this is driving the powergamers bananas. Seems to have been a lotta drift over from battle.net, and they aren’t shifting their gaming styles. Nor has the spelling improved. :wink:

Anyways.

Played with Mixie and Aru a bit over the weekend, was fun. Viridis is coming along nicely, and boy, do I ever empathize with the seemingly directionless World Tree. It’s really embarassing when you announce “Oh yeah, I know where that is!” and spend the next twenty minutes looking for it. :o And Margali is excellent help for some of the more confusing and/or tougher parts. Now THERE’S a druid who knows where her spells are. And has a really nice thwapping stick.

Dipped my little finger into the water of PVP, and found it good so far…helped defend Auberdine and Darnassus 'til I got squished by a scary-levelled troll. And had fun doing it, too. My character may be just a baby, a rabbit even, but one of my fave short stories is entitled “Even Rabbits Have Teeth”. :smiley:

FINALLY got my waterform quest (wasn’t bugged and I-don’t-want-to-talk-about-it-because-I-was-STUPID) and ran through the Wetlands, shrieking like a girl ('cuz, like, I AM one…), as advised. Made my way allllll the way through lemme see… Wetlands, Dun Morough, found Ironforge, took the Deeprun Tram to Stormwind (that’s kinda nifty) and ran all the way to the Westfall coast, to be stopped cold at the swarms of murlocs. This is a lvl 16 quest?

I will be hearing their gurgles in my nightmares for the next coupla days…

That’s one of the things I’m really enjoying about it–I’ve never really played any RPGs, only puzzle type games like Myst and such–but even though it takes me a full thirty seconds to figure out where my spells are in the heat of battle, I can still solo and have fun putting along.

Yeah, thanks for the help :). I spent all bloody day trying to solo those two quests and then I finally ask for help and you two just smite your way through in about fifteen seconds! I like to do things myself, but there comes a point when when the two options are flinging the new laptop out the window, or calling in your level 72 buddies for assistance ;). I’m lvl 12 at this point and finally things are starting to make sense…

I think I may have been playing too much, since I had a dream last night where I was doing some everyday activity, and started looking for my rejuvination spell…

chuckle I made that run last week sometime. It’s a long run. Luckily, I was able to avoid all the stuff in the Wetlands, and the orcs in the pass to Loch Modan had been taken out by someone just before I went through. I also had a high-level guild buddy to escort me through Westfall. Though in general, once I was in Westfall, the rest was relatively easy. Finding the chest wasn’t quick, but I was able to avoid the Murlocs pretty well. It’s just a matter of swimming out from the beach away from them.

Other than the time involved, the quest isn’t hugely challenging. It’s difficult to find the items, but you can mostly avoid the monsters that’ll give you trouble.

I also had fun with PVP a bit ago. Amusingly enough, it was while defending Auberdine. My 16th lvl druid was hugely outclassed, but I was able to heal friendlies and occasionally toss a Moonfire at the Horde. Now I just need to hit 20th so I can wander around as a great big cat for fun.

LOL, the BNet Babies tend to go to PVP servers and stay out of our hair, which makes me very happy, I had to deal with them in closed, open and stress betas. Also as a guide for EQ, I had to deal with powergamers, and I am very happy that I don’t have to interact with them if I don’t want to=)

I have done some PVP, defending Astranaar mostly, or in other zones and it is very fun=) After getting travel form it is a bit easier to chase the horde down when they run like the yellow cowards they are {grin}

Which thwapping stick do you like, the stave or the mace? I can’t remember which one I was using offhand, but both of them were just plain drops I picked up in Arathi Highlands off the ogres, I can see what I have on hand in the bank if you like, I know I have a couple odd ones I havent sold yet. I do know I paid to have a +6 enchantment put on the staff, which is why it glows…

Actually, I have been playing since closed beta, so I have done pretty much every alliance quest for all 4 races through level 30 at least 5 or 6 times, and have them sort of memorized=) I do know I can take any alliance character and get to level 10 in about 5 or 6 hours of play, using nothing but what I get as drops.

Hey, if anyone is playing on Kilrogg and wants to get served in a duel, come check me out. Human mage name of Demus. :wink:

I’m on Kilrogg, too, but haven’t yet let Demo’s 50 something mage duel my almost-40 hunter. When we’re the same level, I’ll keel him.

Oooooh, it’s on! :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought the stave you were wearing when first we began adventuring together was pretty nifty, but the one-hit squishing you did with the mace was absolutely inspiring.

I now have my waterform, thanks to aru, and I finally made it to lvl20! Say hello to the nice kitty with very large fangs! My favorite bit so far is to make the shift while doing a flat-out run. It looks so very very cool.

I was gonna be on last night after supper to give Mixie and Abby a hand, but I had company. And I felt guilty on two levels - one that I didn’t come back like I said I would, and the other 'cause I was up for ignoring my hostly duties and friends-with-physical-presence for what amounts to a video game. I did beat my inner geek into submission and give my guests my full attention, but boy, it was tough. And if we’d been doing an instanced raid, physical company would’ve been SOL. :smiley:

At the rate you’re going, Mixie, Viridis will be smiting her way through some stuff in no time. You haven’t seen me die like a dog trying for a Soul Gem by myself yet… I’m decent at pulling apart mobs of firbolg and whatnot, but those are something else again. It works better if you skulk around the edges, picking off the lone and vulnerable - but those buggers are nowhere near as lone and vulnerable as they appear.

We’ll have to descend on Abby pretty soon here, and give her a bit of a boost. I’ve four lockboxes I’d like opened rather badly, and it’d be nice to help increase a guildies leet skillz at the same time. :slight_smile:

LOL, I will have to see if I can score you some weapons=) I find that a good weapon can make a serious difference in staying alive=)

The firbolg in ashenvale? as soon as I can sit at the computer without hacking out a lung and you are in game I can give you a hand, my level 21 hunter has that quest also.

She hasn’t been on when I have been on lately - Rob gets the computer tuesdays and wednesdays as those are his days off=) and my lungs have crapped out worse since monday=( I have 5 or 6 lockboxes=( that need to get opened. I think my gnome engineer can make practice lockboxes, or will be able to soon, i will have to check her out.

Check your mail for armor, rob was doing a suspicious amount of mailing this morning…

OK, I have 2 thwacky sticks -
magician staff of natures wrath with a +2 damage enchantment on it

ballast maul of the tiger with a +2 damage emchantment on it

first one need to be 24 to use, second one is 31 required level=)

aruvan I am so sorry you aren’t feeling well. I hope you get better soon.

Son and I had a miscommunication. He was wanting to start another character and delete ones we weren’t playing and I told him he could delete the gnome on Stormreaver that I hadn’t been playing since I started playing Abbygnome, and he deleted her on Elune too. :confused:

So I had to begin again on Elune.

Please remove Abbygnome from your friends lists and add AbbyMacRogue. Abby is a human rogue and already has her three six-slot pouches to go with her backpack. The boyo had the good sense to loot the characters before he deleted them, so I made him mail me back the 8 slot leather bag and some pants and a cloak that Aru had given me. AbbyMacRogue is apprenticed in mining, journeyman in skinning and has already trained on first aid, cooking, and fishing; although all three are under 25, I think, as we were concentrating on getting her leveled up to where Abbygnome was.

We got AbbyMacRogue up to level 8 or 9 in just yesterday evening. I think in the next week or so I will be getting a little more time to play than I have been in the past few weeks. As at the moment he’s feeling guilty about our misunderstanding and my disappointment to find Abbygnome on Elune gone. :frowning: Also I’m a tad irritated with the boys guild on the sons server and so won’t be playing my first character much anymore unless I can’t get on Elune for some reason.

I think you get the lock picking quest at 16 and I will make it a priority to get to it and train on it right away. I’d love to contribute a skill to the guild. From the rogue on Stormreaver I figured out though that you don’t get the skill up for the lock pick if you put it in the not to be traded window. So you poor folks are going to have to trust a thief and trade it to me, so that when I pick it I get the skill up. I will of course trade it back to you once picked.

I really enjoyed questing with her, but I think aruvan and Margali get to play when I am at work during the day and having dinner and family time in the early evening. I don’t usually get to get on before 7 in the evening and if the teenager is questing with his buddies from school I don’t get a turn. He’s supposed to be looking for a part time job and hopefully that will fill up his time a couple evenings a week. He’s got work lined up for the summer lifeguarding in the afternoons and evenings and coaching the neighborhood summer league swim team in the mornings and on Saturdays, but those don’t begin until the very end of April so we’ve asked him to get something part time for now. Mainly for him to be saving for his expenses in the fall, but a secondary benefit will be I get a bit more computer time.

Brace yourselves, this is your nonsequiter, she’s rambling alert!

I really had no idea I was such a thief at heart. :o I really like the pickpocket skill. My fav is to stealth, go around behind, pick their pocket, backstab and then sinister strike away until I’m standing over a sparkling corpse. It makes the battling a little slower if I am grouped with someone, but it doesn’t decrease the loot from the corpse and it makes it much easier to have the funds for the skill ups and training as soon as you are on a level to be allowed to skill up.

I am getting a tiny bit better at keeping up with the chat and I miss fewer comments directed at my character now.

I still am very slow to look up and reply to a question about what quests I have. I am a fast typist, but it seems to take me a good deal longer than others to get it out there. I think there must be a click and drop shortcut or something that others use that I haven’t learned yet.

Some guy bowed in a appreciation for something I traded to him yesterday and when I curtesied in reply, he laughed and said he hadn’t expected a rogue to be so lady like. Hey I can be a sneaky thief and still mind my p’s and q’s! Honor among thieves and all that. :stuck_out_tongue:

My daggers are not so hot, if anyone gets a good dagger drop, I would be delighted to swap leather or mining finds with you for it.

I so envy people with weapons that glow!

Oh, thought of one more thing. If anyone has leatherworking, Abby MacRogue has three stacks of scraps that could be made into light leather. Three stacks of scraps will make one stack of light leather if I remember correctly.

LOL, you could have made and used abbygnome name again, but I will change the list, and when i see you in game again I will tag you again=)

Normally, my playing is 11 am to 1 am east coast time, with breaks here and there for cooking and cleaning, but this damned influenza type a sucks piled on top of my COPD :frowning: I can play for about an hour before I need to lie down for a nap, or so it seems=(

At least a rogue still wears leather armor so rob can still make you stuff=) I have something like 5 locked boxes in the bank, and my engineer can make practice locks for you to try to practice on, i will have to run around and do some mining to make them. I can use a stack of copper, and I bet rob can use the leather=)

I knew that you could use the same name on different servers. I don’t know why I thought once a name was used it was gone. Now that I think about it, probably from here. Because once a user name is used, it’s gone forever.

I was getting a little frustrated with the gnome as a rogue, I adored her look, voice, attitude, but really she doesn’t look like a quick and agile rogue and I kept getting her round butt stuck in places, like between trees while running through the mountains. Also I am more familiar with the human quests and knew that I could skill up a human faster to get to a better level to play with the guildies on Elune.

I’ve read that the practice locks are only good for one skill up and so might not be worth our time and wowpennies to make and use. I’d be curious to try it once anyway. I can send Rob the three stacks of scraps and I am pretty sure he can make them into a stack of light leather and then into whatever he wants or needs. I’d be happy to send you a stack of copper. Don’t think I have a stack yet, but when I do, I’ll pass it on.

Goofy bit:
Son showed me /silly and AbbyMacRogue said something like, “Ever get the feeling you aren’t in control of your own destiny, like someone elses hands and decisions rule your life?” Bwahahaha. :smiley:

Nnononononononoooooooooooo!

claws back to her keyboard

We’re sorry, but due to resource conflicts, your gaming will not be reliably available for the next few days.

Who let these meatpuppets infest my realspace anyways? Who ARE they, and why are they bothering me? I wanna Ice Block, or even a Holy Shield. Mom who? Nobody here by that name… Yeah, you look tolerably familiar. What guild? High school…nope. Not familiar with any of its guildmembers. PVPer’s? What do you mean, married? I can’t afford a wedding dress, I haven’t got my epic mount yet!

Sigh.

Zero to sixty in three weeks. And I’m not talking character levels, either. :frowning:

Hey Abby, according to Blizzard, the last patch should have resolved the problem with picking locks in the trade screen. Not that I wouldn’t trust you - there IS honour among some thieves :wink: but I thought I’d let you know anyways.

LOL, now you know how I feel about timesharing MY computer with hubby=) I go into withdrawl on tuesdays and wednesdays=(

Just got a HDD for my barebones computer…now all i need is a processer, ram and a vid card…and a monitorsigh I really NEED a job=(
