I like my women -> ? Who is the next top waddle?

Well, in fairness, she has an 8 week old baby. She’s already lost half of the weight she gained while knocked up, but she’s working on the rest. She’s a bit hippy with a bit of a belly left over, so there ya go. She was like 100 lbs when she got pregnant.

I haven’t got time for girl crushes on girls who live 2700 miles away from me. Besides, have you seen ME lately?

<sigh> Story of my life…

You’re a goddess, as always.

It is more likely that she needs an 11 because she no longer has the figure type meant for the Juniors department (odd-numbered sizing is Juniors/ even-numbered is Misses.) Junior sizes are cut for a youthful, less “womanly” figure type. I’ve mentioned before that when I was in my early twenties, I was in tears because I couldn’t fit into the size 11 pants I wanted in the Juniors department, where I always shopped. I was 5’6" and about 125 pounds, about the same as what I’d been for a few years, but my proportions had changed. I finally went over to the Misses department and fit nicely into a size 8, and even a 6 in some styles. With vanity sizing, I imagine that would be about a size 4 today.

Speaking as an ordinary Brit male on this ,and did a quick survey amongst my mates I/we dont actually fancy the famous international models on a sexual basis .
(though I’m sure they’re all incredibly great people personality wise and are amazingly intelligent )

I/we actually fancy women who look like women and I’d personally prefer someone carrying a few extra pounds rather then a woman carrying a few less pounds .

I always had an incredible amount of time for Jerry Hall but when she got her kit off to appear in a London version of "The Graduate " she looked like a bone rack ,Big disappointment !

And yes I’m a completely superficially minded male (but an honest one )and I know I’m going to get a lot of shit about this post because no doubt I’m probably a sexist in between encouraging wars so that I can enjoy myself killing unarmed innocent people ,how on earth do i manage to sleep at nights ?Its probably the illegal drugs!

I speak only for myself, but you get no grief from me. I think girls should be girl-shaped. And while as a red-blooded American female I can’t deny the appeal of the scrawny-but-adorable Daniel Radcliffe , I think the “bone-rack” build is only appealing when it IS that of a 17-year-old boy.

Beautiful women. 3500 km that way, and (pivots 90 degrees) 1500 km that way. Story of my life.

I think Tyra looks gorgeous too. Generally, I think most women look better with a little extra padding. We’re meant to be soft and curvy.

I also love the Dove campaign. It’s taken me 36 years, but I finally love the way I look. I’m short and wear an 8/10, so I’m definitely in that soft and curvy category. 90% of the time when I look in the mirror I like what I see. That’s pretty hard to learn when all the women I see in the media are taller than me and probably wear a smaller size.

Oh, and the thing with Tyra’s hair in that photo–it’s not uncommon for long hair to be pulled forward in shots like that. It makes you look like you have more hair. And that’s not a matter of insecurity or hypocrisy. Playing up your good features and doing little things that make you look (and feel) beautiful is a huge ego boost.

I would think Tyra Banks was hot is she weighed 261 pounds.

I’m sure there are beautiful women slightly nearer.

No - there’s only the two of us in all of North America - didn’t you know that?

Okay. You can be the model, and I will be the waddle.

Can I be the top?
Ok, that came out dirtier than I intended, but I’m leaving it here anyway.

Wow - this thread just got WAAAAY kinkier…

Men don’t care about fashion. We don’t care about makeup. We don’t care about sizes. We only care about one thing: is she hot? The beauty standards in “the media” and the beauty standards that women hold themselves and other women to have very little to do with what men find attractive. Saying that women starve themselves because they want to make themselves more beautiful for men is complete crap. They starve themselves because they have a bizarre self-image or are competing with other women for female-defined standards.

There have been tons of studies about attractiveness. Ideals of beauty vary a bit depending on culture, but they’re pretty close to agreement on certain things across cultures. This study (PDF) that I found by googling “waist hip ratio” is pretty dry—not surprising considering it’s a scientific article. It found that guys from a hunting-gathering society, the Hadza in Tanzania, prefer close to the same kind of women as American men. Take a look at the profile pictures on page 3. First pick for American men, the one they find most attractive, 0.65, which is toward the big-butted end of the scale, and they like wider hips than Hadza men. Hadza men prefer slightly bigger butts, which has something to do with both cultural ideals of beauty and with the body type typical of the women in their society, but they also prefer more narrow hips.

I can’t find a study online, but I’ve seen other stuff that replicates findings reported in an article mentioned in a book I’ve got at home, Sexualia Mundi. Women consistently pick thinner profiles as being more attractive, while men consistently pick profiles that are closer to a specific waist-hip ratio. Whether she’s a bubble butt or a skinny girl, she’s going to get more guys if she tapers to the waist and has hips that flare out bigger than her waist. If I remember right, quite a few women in that study were picking drawings that were 2 or even 3 steps away toward the skinny side of what men picked as being attractive.

In other words, ladies, don’t blame us guys for female hangups. Dieting, eating disorders, focus on media standards of beauty are all mostly self-created problems.

Who in this thread blamed men for weight hangups?
