I like [this dish], only without [the key ingredient of that dish].

So that makes mexican food hard.

Considering you’ll have trouble finding sour cream in Mexico, and guac is usually served on the side, not really.

Exactly what I was coming in here to post.

I do this to when I am feeling lazy, bacon and mayo sandwich, yum. But I am not philosophically opposed to lettuce. Tomato on the other hand, I can’t stand raw tomatoes.

Also another vote for “french toast involves nutmeg?” I’ve always made it with cinnamon.

Pineapple foster? Yummy! I prefer to sear the pineapple before adding the brown sugar.
Peace,
mangeorge

Blasphemer!
I also like some anchovies on an “everything” pizza.

Absolutely! Gumbo means okra. Might as well eat Campbells noodle soup.

You guys eat Vegemite. Nothing else needs to be said.

Maybe so in Mexico, but not so in many Mexican households in the US. IIRC, the Mexican version is called crema.
Peace,
mangeorge, who grew up in barrios in CA.

I offer raisin bread as a counterexample.

Raisin bread buttered and sprinkied with cinnamon sugar and toasted on one side under the broiler.
I feel the carbs banging against the walls of my arteries as we speak.
And I really like mayo.

I am the queen of "I like (this food) but only without (this ingredient).

Sandwiches? BL & no T. Reuben with no dressing or sauerkraut. Pastrami but never on rye. I hate rye bread. And I do not eat mayo on anything.

Stroganoff is awesome but please leave off the mushrooms.

McDonald’s Egg McMuffins? No egg, please. Except for baked goods, I don’t really care for eggs.

Chili with no beans.

Then there are just preferences on foods:

Chocolate chip cookies with no chocolate chips. (The traditional Toll House recipe but no chips added–basically brown sugar cookies.)

Fried rice–no eggs, of course.

Salads–always no tomatoes.

Oatmeal cookies with no raisins. In fact, no raisins ever, in anything.

I’m sure there are many more.

Shit, if you now hold the B, you’re most of the way to a chicken salad sandwich!

That’s how my grandmama used to give it to me back when I was kid!

Now, either I eat my peppers like a big boy or prepare for an onslaught of Hungarian swears!

ETA: Oh, and I don’t like bacon on a Hawaiian pizza, though I think that’s not a standard ingredient. Just ham and pineapple, tyvm.

I like stuffed peppers. I prefer the peppers to be soft and scorched a little. Sometimes the filling doesn’t measure up, though. Rice isn’t needed, but a little is okay. I prefer the rice seperate. A nice simple marinara sauce tops it off for me. Fresh grated parmesan sprinkled on top.
So there ya go, omit the rice.
Oh yeah, leftovers the next day in sandwiches with lots of mayo.

Obligatory link: It cooms wi’ uh egg (Scroll down to “A view from the other side”)

So, she conned you into scraping the egg into the garbage yourself.

I hate to break it to you, but this is no longer a Reuben. It may very well be a good Corned Beef and Swiss on something but it isn’t a Reuben. This is like saying “This year for Thanksgiving we decided to replace the Turkey with Ham… enjoy the Turkey.”

I know but some places, like the cafeteria at my former job, they don’t sell corned beef and Swiss sandwiches–only Reubens. (So say the people who prepare the food. :smack:) However, they will customize your Reuben any way you want. So, I have to order a Reuben with no dressing and no sauerkraut. There’s a deli in town that does sell corned beef sandwiches but they charge extra for cheese but a Reuben is the same price as the corned beef sandwich. Guess which one I order?

Yes, I am fully aware that in another area, this would never be an issue but around here, you get a corned beef and Swiss sandwich any way you can because corned beef that doesn’t come in a can is not that popular.

I’ll give you a break because dealing with workers who “don’t sell” something but can substitute something else to make the same thing unfortunately is way too common.

However the statement above made me throw up in my mouth a little. I’ve never thought of canned corned beef. I assume it is next to the Potted Meat Food Products. I’ll gladly support any kind of fund raiser to send you a proper Corned Beef and Cheese Sandwich, but I’m not sure if the local deli would let me order it on anything but Rye.
