on Internet Explorer, so I can’t provide cites. Is there an easy remedy?
Go to:
View > Toolbars > and make sure “Address Bar” is checked.
If that doesn’t work, try View > Toolbars > Customize > Reset

Right click on the upper taskbar, (if you have IE 6 you might need to unlock it) and make sure there is a check by address bar. If you dragged it out of view, look for the little drag handles, hover your cursor over them until it changes to a double arrow thing, and drag it back.
I used to get this problem a lot from customers when I was tech support for an ISP. You probably lost it either by accidentally click-dragging in just the wrong spot (often happening in a split second so you don’t even notice it), or some annoying pop-up window opened that has no address bar in it and somehow it became the new standard setting for your browser.
Do as Boscibo says - move your mousepointer to the border where the menu bars meet the main window of your browser, and a small double-headed arrow will appear. When that arrow is visible, click your left button, hold it down, and drag your mouse down so the Address bar reappears.
It may appear in a different location to where you remember (above the other menu buttons, for example) in which case you can click-drag it using the little handle on the far left and move it to where you want it.
Thanks for trying guys, but I tried and or checked all three/four options without success. Address checkmark is in place for both procedures, and I can’t find any evidence that the bar has been dragged out of view.
If you figure it out, please post the solution; I’ve been having the exact same problem.
My wife got back and solved the problem. Boscibo was right after all. What I failed to realize was that the “locked” toolbars checkmark was applicable to dragging the address bar. I had locked it previously trying to solve this problem. Once my wife unlocked the toolbars, the doble arrows popped up as predicted and I dragged my address bar back.
Thanx guys
