I love thunderstorms! Do you!

I love them. And heavy rain, and wind.
But I once had a tabby cat who was frightened of wind, which kinda spoils one’s perfect enjoyment. [ Actually, once had a kitten who was terrified of hoovers, which also makes things difficult… ]
Of course, in the British Isles we rarely get the excellent range of extreme weathers enjoyed by the USA.

I loves me a good thunderstorm. The wife thinks I’m crazy.

Now I see how it is you’ve come to asking strangers to share their umbrella.

I love them too … especially when they are at sea and I am not. I saw one on the news one time watching channel eight news in San Diego … so I went down to see it for myself.

I was able to park on a high bluff over looking La Jolla in San Diego and saw one of the most awesome sights of my life, a thunder storm at sea the lightning and thunder and huge waves. It lasted for hours.

It was a moment I will never forget like the force nine weather I went through out at sea one time and took a 57 degree roll, but that’s a sea story I will save for the sea story thread.

Don’t forget to turn off the internet and other electrical items during a storm.

I don’t mind an average thunderstorm, but when the storms get bad I get nervous. If the tornado sirens go off like they did the other night I come completely unglued. I do like the smell in the air before a storm though.

^ That

Rains used to flood my basement, so yeah, that was misery, but as for the storm itself? I love them. One poster mentioned the weather warning sirens going off. I get excited when they go off.

I love the dark clouds. Lightning is pretty darn cool. It’s hotter than the sun. As it reaches for the ground, objects about to be struck (including people) actually send out an upward streamer of an opposite charge to meet the lightning. The following thunder is like grumbling of the gods. The wind can be strong without hurting; rain as well.

I’ve been out in a hail storm (to see a girl). That did hurt, but it was exhilarating. When nature dumps giant hail, I’m glad to be inside, but love to watch the destruction.

As mentioned above, yes, I do love a thunderstorm.

In El Paso?

YES!

Bring the water. Thunder is accepted. Just bring the water.

I love them. One of the things I’m most looking forward to about living in Singapore when I finally get there is the proper rainstorms. We got a preview on the last night of my holiday there a couple of weeks ago, and it was wonderful. Dramatic, exhilarating, air-clearing!

:eek::eek::eek:

Bolding mine, but I’m wondering if we are going to have to trade usernames anytime soon.

I used to love the Arizona monsoons, except if I got caught by one when I was riding. Then I was pretty scared. I wouldn’t need to get struck by lightning while riding to die. The concussion of a near strike would knock me over. I’d always stop at a coffee house or bar and wait it out then. Even then, I would go out to the covered patio to watch the display and enjoy the wind and mist splattering my skin.

So far, Houston thunderstorms aren’t as much fun. The power and fury is still there, but the winds are much stronger.

I love thunderstorms as well. Here in my little valley, you rarely get to actually see the lightning because of the trees, but you can certainly hear the thunder rattling on long after it would without the hills to echo and re-echo the sound. And I love being safe and warm and dry when just on the other side of that pane of glass is a torrential downpour, freakish winds and amazing bass notes that sound as if the hills are shouting at each other.

Love them as well, unless I’m out in a tent camping - then they can suck.

If I’m home & safe then bring 'em on.

We don’t get enough where we live, to the point that my wife (who also loves them) and I have actually talked about the frequency of thunderstorms being a factor in choosing where we would move to if we leave this city.

Yes.
I live in East Asia and it’s great for thunderstorms in the rainy season.

I love them myself, we don’t get them very often where I live, but on the other hand we don’t have to put up with the awful humidity beforehand.

I love average thunderstorms. Living near San Francisco, we almost never get them, but I grew up in the northeast and was stationed in tornado alley during my military days. Owning a home and in a severe storm, however, is another story.

When I visited the Grand Canyon, I took the mule ride down to the river. We stayed overnight at the Phantom Ranch, and for about 2 hours there was a phenomenal thunderstorm. The thunder reverberated back-and-forth among the walls and outcroppings of the canyon, and was magnificent!
