Huh. Our area is extremely family-intensive, and there’s aloways huge packs of trick-or-treaters. It’s a lot of fun. Okay, the no-costume teenagers aren’t fun, but the little kids are adorable.
In three years (maybe four) I can start trick-or-treating again. With the kid. Do you think it’s bad form for Mommy to have a bag, too?
If the kid is cute enough, nobody will care. Trust me on this one. I’ve been even more generous when the parents care enough to start their children off right by teaching them how to beg door-to-door at the proper early age.
I am almost over the jet lag - well I am functioning anyway.
Last night I carved my very first pumpkin to put outside tonight as apparently according to **nosy neighbour ** our neighbourhood is prime trick or treat terratory. I may need to go get more candy though when I emptied out the bags into a bowl last night it didn’t look like much.
I am also unpacked which in itself is a marvel as it normally takes me at least a week.
I am still wishing it was Friday though - this has been a long week.
My test results were posted this morning, so now I have to wait until my NP calls me to tell me what they mean. I think there are more tests in my immediate future.
Happy All Hallows Eve.
I’ve purchased candy three times for the demons that won’t come to our house, but hubby has eaten all of it. I’ll have to go out again today. Of course, in the 10 years we’ve lived here, we’ve never had a single trick or treater. I think having candy keeps them away.
I’ve had a stupid cold all week, so I haven’t done much that entailed thinking or reading. My eyes won’t stop tearing so I couldn’t even watch TV. Hubby has tried to keep me drugged and asleep. I think I’ve cough up one lung, and am working on the other one. My ribs hurt. [sub](Note to self: Stop whining, right now!)[/sub]
Even worse, because I haven’t been on line, I’ve missed this year’s White Elephant exchange. Oh well, I need to work on some stained glass for Christmas, so I shouldn’t let myself get distracted anyway.
Li-li – why wait for next year? Tell the residents you’re teaching the baby early And that the candy is for him. Prove it by swallowing the candy on the spot and pointing out it’s all going to feed him
ETA: Hey! First on 4. It always seems to happen when I’m least expecting it…
I thought you might, and I couldn’t remember any that are close to the place where you work. Figured it wasn’t too far out of your way to get to where I described. M GF works just off of that main road there behind the Home Despot.
I don’t think my toe is broken. Just sporting an unholy bruise. 'Cause I can squeeze it fairly hard before I get noticeable pain, but it’s not numb. I think I lucked out.
I have not been very productive today. We had a October birthday/ costume judging / cube decorating contest party. My buddy Marcie got the biggest prize, a $50 gift card to a grocery store! We had pumpkin cake, chocolate chip cookie iced sandwich thing, and a sweet potato pie. Yum!
I also went to Tar-jay at lunchtime and bought a bunch of candy for the little hellspawn that will be driving my dogs to distraction tonight. And an electric lighted jack-o-lantern - not very traditional huh? (It was only 5 bucks, I couldn’t resist!)
I also was burning some CD’s that another buddy brought me - and I broke the cup holder! It was sticking out, and I bumped it with my knee! Crap. At least the IT guy sits right next to me. He tried to fix it, but he said he’ll wait until later.
I suppose I should attempt to get some work done. Later!
Oh no… they’re certainly little carnivores. Ours likes chicken and pepperoni and cheese and just about everything else we’ve given him so far. There’s very little they DON’T eat. No cabbage because it can give them gas so badly that they can actually get very ill. But other than that, most all human food is ok for hamsters. Just not too much sugar or fat. Obviously, their diet should be mostly hamster food, but an occasional treat of other stuff makes them very happy and is fun to watch. It’s part of what makes them a lot of fun as pets.
This Halloween will be just like the last one - no lights, no decorations, no candy, no kids. The first year we were here, we had decorations and goodies, but I don’t think we had 3 dozen kids and way too many of them were driven door to door, including one kid whose dad brought him in a golf cart. So I’m a Halloween Grinch. I expect when my kid moves in, she’ll want to do it up - that’ll be her choice then.
Bad Chinese for supper, 'cause I don’t feel like cooking. Then we’re going to a coworker’s house - he’s got a computer for sale kinda cheap, and our kid needs one. Other than that, it’ll be a nothing night. One day closer to Friday.
I finally finished the Job From Hell. Now it’s back to the other not-quite-as-rush job, followed by the I’ll-have-to-rush-or-it’ll-be-late job, followed by two more batches of congressional [del]drivel[/del] committee hearings. Envy me.
But the rest of today, I think, calls for lots of laziness, Pushing Daisies, and early to sleep. For some strange reason.
I was off today, but I’m still exhausted. I took Nelly to the dogpark, she enjoyed it. After all, who doesn’t love an ACRE! of SMELLS! I did laundry, and got some vittles from Wally World. It’s fajitas and beer, then early bed, since I have to be at work at 0300. [swampy]I HATE THIRD SHIFT!!![/swampy]
