I’m from the government and I’m here with your MMP

Wow. I guess my dog is overly easy to please. He was so happy to get to the vet that he pooped as he walked in the door!

Ten years and no one? That’s what I call persistence.

Well, today turned out better than I expected considering my severe lack of sleep last night due to anxiety and disgust with the world. I’m trying to decide if I want to just lay around on the couch tonight or go to bed early. Decisions, decisions :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{{Shadow}}}}

I hope the test results come back ok, Shadown. I like Shadown, so I hope you do too. Next week, I won’t remember that I liked it (or I might–sometimes I surprise myself).

I am back from work, where I got fussed at by a guy who had surgery earlier in the week and has decided “I want the body part they took out of me.” Um…

How to say it’s ash now? I transferred him to Pathology. Heh.

I am waiting for TorTers. So far, NONE. I bought good candy, so it won’t go to waste. Supposedly the Husband saw hordes of kids and moms on the next street over. Maybe they’ll be here soon.

Off to read some more and most likely fall asleep. I’m tired from this early day.

Papa Tigs decided we needed some candy Just In Case, so on my orders he got something I’ll eat later. (Being diabetic, he doesn’t eat it, so it’s all up to me, alas. ) Apparently everyone else at the drugstore buying last-minute candy was making excuses and claiming they were buying it for kids, so when the lady asked him who he was buying it for and he said, “My wife, and if any TorTers come by, they can have some, too,” she was quite impressed by his honesty. I was quite impressed by his candy choice – some good Reese’s Crispy Crunchy Bars. Yumm, Reese’s.

I am so sleepy I can barely hold my eyes open, but I can’t just give up and die because the new dogsitter is stuck in traffic on her way over to meet the Idiots and learn their routine. So I have to hold my eyes open long enough for that, and then to eat dinner, before I give up and crawl in bed and DIE. For some reason, I think I’ll sleep well tonight. :dubious:

I played hookie today. and so fr only 1 trick-or-treater (or one group) knocked on the door - I ignored it since I didn’t buy any candy.

Hugs, pats-on-backs, snacks upside heads as needed all around

what does an eastern european ghost eat for dinner?

hungarian ghoulash

nyuk nyuk nyuk

Wow. I did not know that. I guess that explains an incident I had in my pre-teen years. I was at a friend’s place and he had a hamster in a 20 gallon fish tank. Cute little bugger. I poked my finger in to pet him and he damn near bit the tip off.

Of course, I was also eating cheezies at the time and had cheezie dust on my fingers, so that probably made it think my finger was a big cheezie.

OK, I’ll tell my one and only Halloween joke, which I’ve told here before, so you long-time mumpers should know it:

What do you get when you goose a ghost?

A handful of sheet!

Wee, we just had another earthquake. Honestly, I’d rather be in an office building than in my house or outside. This was a good, sharp jolt, but a short one. It was in the same location of the one last night.

Happy Halloween everyone! If any of you or your kids dressed up, I expect pictures. We get no trick or treaters where we live. I miss seeing all the cute kids costumes. :frowning:

Off to do some cleaning. How exciting is that?

Hugs for Shadow, too. Especially with the added earthquake.

**HAPPY **HALLOWEEN!!!

I’m in the middle of our TorT time. (45 minutes-ish left.) I’ve had about 20 kids stop by, all ages and all in costume. there were a couple of very cool home-made costumes: One little boy as a car (he had a cardboard construct hung on his shoulders). Dad informed me that 4 cans of spray paint died for the cause. Another little boy was wearing a sandwich board Pokemon card. They looked like they were about the same age, so I wonder if there was a contest at the library or in a class or club for homemade costumes. There were some extremely cute toddlers, but some fun tweens and teens, too. One offered to dance for an extra piece of candy. Another arrived on my doorstep and wished me a happy new year.

Wow, Bobbio, that’s a big shock. But it sounds like a very nice gesture (I’m assuming VWife got over the tears once she realized they were there to cheer her up?)

Yes, tarra there’s lots of good food here, in pretty much all price ranges. On my way home, I saw a percussion group on the sidewalk next to the convention center (our walk was a major detour to pick up hockey tickets, so we didn’t walk indoors to take inventory of the conventions du jour). We like to guess what various acronyms stand for and generally critique displays and posters and such; yes, we’re easily entertained.

So anyway, I get to go see the Bluejackets on Sunday. My brother’s friend gave him some tickets, and I had to go pick them up (maybe 6 blocks from work). Since he doesn’t have his kids this weekend, I get to go to the game. I’ve seen OSU play hockey before, but never the Bluejackets…for free! Yay!

Apparently we’re on the same non-sleep schedule, Mork. I’m considering melatonin. The medication that my doctor is having me take for a month is supposed to have drowsiness as a side effect. Not in me, it doesn’t. Cool pumpkin, by the way.

So, swampy, I’m taking a survey: how do you like working 3rd shift? Please be clear about your opinion.

Well, it’s been a while since anyone stopped by. I’m thinking I might turn off lights and do something semi-productive.

::Wanders away from front door.::

We had about 18 TorTers all told. Not too bad. #2 son is back home, “my feet hurt!”

He got loads of candy. He doesn’t like Snickers. More for me…

I am in my jammies and going to bed soon. Afterall, it’s almost 7 pm. Then again, I woke up at 0330 and couldn’t go back to sleep.
Best costumes of the night (only ones I saw, since I went and washed my hair, and the Husband answered the door):

Waldo-complete with walking stick. (the fact he was Indian made it even funnier, somehow)
Rollerblading, lampshade wearing “portable light fixture”
Death in sandals
“Um, some Emo dude” ( said, “well, at least you put on some makeup”)

They were together. About ages 12-14. Cute and fun. 4 guys.

Off to bed.

Ya know, I had some really fun kids in that age range, too. They were obviously out to have a nice time and do stand-up comedy on people’s doorsteps. Several made me giggle.

So, the reason I didn’t hear from my NP today? My answering machine said I didn’t have any messages. Imagine my surprise when I came home and found three of them from Kaiser.

My liver levels are elevated by quite a lot. As in the cutoff is 40, and they were concerned last year when it was 67. Now it’s 241. I need to go in for more labs tonight, and get an appointment with gastroenterology. So I’m off to get more blood drawn and probably pee in a cup again. So I get to visit the vampires on Halloween. Envy me.

Verily, my life sucketh. Every @#$% time I get my life on track, something shitty happens. In October. Fuck. But hey, I’m *still *not diabetic. (Kaiser’s computer is convinced that I am diabetic and will not be persuaded otherwise, regardless of how many times they test my (normal) blood sugar.)

And it looks like I need a new answering machine. Peachy.

Well, that stinks! I hope it’s something they can get under control easily!

Here’s hopin’ everything’s ok Shadow. I don’t know what’s worse, knowin’ or not knowin’ when sump’n’s wrong.

gt I have very carefully looked over all the options on your survey. After much consideration I have decided to go with…

I HATE THIRD SHIFT WITH THE PASSION OF 10 GAZILLION BLAZING HOT POKERS!!!

I hope that my answer has cleared up the matter.

Tonight we were over at JoeDawg’s daddy’s place for steaks, baked N.O.T., sallit, cake and ice cream because today is also JoeDawg’s birthday. He’s the big thirteen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOEDAWG!!!

He got some steak and a teeney tiny bit of ice cream and cake. I gave him a big bag of Pupperonis cause they are his favorite treat. He got one of those too. He only growled at me once so he was in a pretty good mood.

doggio as much as I hate third shift the idea of showin’ up anywhere at 3 A.M. is just unspeakable! First shift at da brewry starts at seven but there are folks who do early overtime and come in at 3 A.M. ICK! I mean, early second (11-11) or early third (7-7) don’t sound to bad but 3 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. just sounds so horrible to me. I mean even 3:00 P.M. - 3:00 A.M. and 11:00 P.M. - 11:00 A.M. ain’t fun either but they sound a whole lot better than 3 A.M. - 3 P.M. 3 A.M. just sounds so cruel! ICK!

Ok, I need to get off’n this here puter and get my hiney pointed towards da brewry soon. Purple pocket t and black jeans tonight.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

We got loads of trick & treaters - the parents haul them in by the SUV full. I know there aren’t that many kids in this neighborhood. Oh well; I did get rid of most of the candy. Mr. SCL bought the good stuff, too, so I’ll enjoy the leftovers. There was one little boy in a devil costume who was so cute I wanted to squeeze him.

{{{Shadow}}}

Work is still going well, but I wish I had started after the Pasaquan show. I have lots of stuff to put price tags on. I will be a busy girl Friday.

I just popped in to say I’ve been a bad Mumper, just skimming and not having anything worthwhile to contribute.

Yawn. Sleep.

Hullo everyone.

Hugs to Shadow. I went through WAY off the scale elevated liver functions while still in my twenties. They never did figure out what was causing it, I even had a liver biopsy. In the beginning though, they thought gallstones were a contributing factor, so I had my gall bladder removed. Do you still have your gall bladder?

So, Swampy, I’m not quite clear on how you feel about third shift. I could have swore you were mumbling something, but I didn’t quite catch it.

We didn’t have very many trick or treaters at all. In fact, I didn’t even empty my bowl of candy, and I still have several unopened bags left. Last year, I was running low, and only had about three pieces left when it was all said and done.

My MIL called this evening. I’m driving her to the hospital on Monday morning for her masectomy. They figure she’ll be in the hospital a day, maybe two, then they’re sending her home. After that, she’ll undergo traditional chemotherapy. That just plain ol’ sucks.

I should be working on my significant contributions for the year. My boss wants them by COB tomorrow. I’ve made significant progress, but I really need to be “in the mood” to try and get those down on paper.

Well, I think I’ll try to add a few more significant contributions. Bleah, I hate doing these.

Smooches to all.

Up and caffeinating.

Nelly sends birthday greetings to JoeDawg. Actually she said :“zzZZZZSKKKZRRKKZZZz!”, but I think that means about the same thing.

Morning, y’all!

I got to do T-or-T once in my life, age 7.
I will not divulge what year that was!

Anyway, things were different then… I wandered around the neighborhood on foot, with a few friends, sans any sort of parental escort. Nobody worried about razor-blades or tainted candy… oh, yeah, and geroffmylawn!

{{{Shadow}}} – I know the feeling; just when everything seems to be coming together… wham!! :frowning: Hang in there.

**Swampy **-- I think there’s some confusion amongst us… how do you like Third Shift, again? :stuck_out_tongue:

I just noticed that **GT **and **SCL **both live in Columbus. 1000 miles from each other…

Afternoon everyone. My parents are now safe in Hong Kong (I think) and sleeping before they go mad shopping.

I am sitting at home trying to stay calm while Noor is at daycare having her trial run before the real thing on Sunday. I have to go and pick her up in about 15 minutes - she is just staying for an hour today to get used to the people and that is about as long as I want to be without her when I don’t have to. Come Sunday, I will have her until 9am in the morning before work, then the mad dash home by 6pm to feed her dinner, bathe her and put her to bed. :frowning: But more about that in next week’s MMP. Trying to take lots of cute photos in the meantime to spruce up the OP!

{{{Shadow}}} and {{{Taters, Mr Taters and Taters’ MIL}}}

Okay, off to collect HRH and take her to my MIL.
