I made a funny, and looked smart because of it!

So get this,

I’m in this meeting, just packed with people (IIRC 28 on the sign-in roster), and I’m falling asleep. We’re talking about construction, funding, the funding for construction, goose hunting, golf, all the sorta stuff old stodgy types yak about at meetings. I was throroughly bored. It’s Friday, I just wanna get the hell out of the meeting and go home.

So, we’re wrapping things up at the meeting, and some fool turns the discussion back to hunting, specifically goose season. We sit through this B.S. for another 10 minutes (my eyes fluttering to stay awake), and finally wrap up the meeting. As everyone stands around sipping post-meeting coffee and milling about, someone kinda mentions a problem with one particular project. This gets everyone’s attention, and someone brings up a way to get money for the project which nobody’s heard of. I pipe up, telling them that I’ve heard about this magical pot of money in the sky, and tell 'em I can do some research into it:

“Yeah, what’s good for a gander is good enough for a second look!”

Amazingly, the sleepy guy looks like he’s been paying attention the whole time.

Tripler
Get it? ‘Geese’, ‘gander’, ‘second look’?

Sounds like some geesers had a gaggle of gags.

No.

(Yep, I get “what’s good for the gander is good for the goose.” Where does “second look” come into it?)

I can take a gander at something, and then a second look later.
