I’ve posted here before about playing guitar. I used to play alot, went thru blah blah blah, am playing again.
I’ve been wanting to put something out, ie record something, make a video, throw it up on youtube,
I’ve been doin too much plannin and not near enough doin.:smack: I’ll do it when I get a better computer, guitar, camera etc.
This week I said screw it, I’m gonna make something with whatever is at hand. I posted a video of a short acoustic jam this week. Daisy shot it on a zenpad. I chopped out the part where we jammed and posted it with a title card, no sound editing or nothin.
It was the first time I ever saw a video editor. Sweeney and Cam - YouTube
Video Sony w830
Widows video editor
Audacity audio
No microphone, no audio interface:dubious:
I had to record the audio on a smartphone, e-mail it to myself, convert the file M4a>mp3 to put it in audacity edit a few spots, add some jape and marry the works in the vid editor.
I put this out there for me mostly. But also for everybody who wants to sing, play, paint, tell a joke of do a backflip.
The first one is gonna SUUUUCK. So you better get started cause the 100th or millionth might rock.
Go see my vid, throw me a thumbs up. ( I accept pity thumbs up too:cool:)
I think you should cut yourself some slack. I’ve seen waaay worse videos on the Utoobz. Some nice dirty slide work on the second vid and your buddy’s got a pretty decent set of pipes.
Thank you. Like almost any performer, I run on applause.
I think the people I used to play with/around (monster players) gave me a complex. The Dallas scene in the 80’s -90’s was full of KILLER guitar players.
Oh, I get that. You can’t throw a brick in most places where it won’t hit a guitar player that’s probably better than you unless you’re Tosin Abasi, Tommy Immanuel or Kaki King. Take up blues harmonica and you’re guaranteed to be better than 90% of all guitar players… (Cos they can’t).
the generic you. You’re a much better player than I am and I definitely can’t throw a brick that far…
FWIW, playing with far better players is a great way to get better, but you already knew that.
What are you using for video editing, BTW? I have a video I want to put together and Imma vid virgin.
I like the sound of your guitar, and applaud your willingness to put it out there.
One question - what are you trying to accomplish with the video editing. I found the jerky movements and distortion distracting. But that’s JMO (you asked!) I tend to favor more old time music, where there is more an emphasis on seeing what the musicians are doing.
Thanks for the kind words, it means alot too me (from everybody)
I’m using the windows video editor (in the start menu/windows 10) I tried a few others, but they won’t run on my little laptop. I’d like more control (especially some transitions)
Love the comments and questions! Don’t hold back.
I was tryin to be artistic, grew up in the MTV generation.:smack: And to be BRUTALLY honest I pick my own appearance apart. I’m 50 years old, 6’0" 255lbs. I don’t wanna see my double chin. LOL (just regular people nerves, no disfunction)
I’ll get used to it soon enough. I guess since it came up, I’ll try to push in that direction on the next project that I’m the forcus of.
New video up now. Heavy metal and Dirt Bikes!!! WHoooooHoooooo!

Thumbs up on all 3. FWIW, you’re a better player than me. I’ve been making noise with guitars for ddamned near 30 years now and I still don’t refer to myself as a guitar player, ever.
I tell people that I’m an artist who’s “signature sound” is reminiscent of the sound a cat makes when its sitting on a loud lawnmower as it goes through a rose bush hedge.
I like the music on both recordings. The video was a bit too busy so I jumped to another tab on my browser and kept your audio on my headphones.
After it was all done my fingers were a bit sore. I’m used to having 8-12 bars to get it all done, that was like 2 mins. and quite frantic.
Thanks Bubba, next video will be a static shot, no MTVisms;)
I miss Wordman too, I looked to see if I can nudge/poke him on youtube, but I don’t see that utility.
