Entire periods of glacial activity wax and wane between incidences of me launching Internet Explorer (I think I have version 5?) but I’m happy to report that the newfangled QuickReply works fine with Shiira.
I’m using Firefox and Quick Reply seems to work (mostly) just fine for me. The only thing that doesn’t work is the four “buttons” above the edit box – the Bold, Italic, Underline, and Quote buttons. But since I usually put the tags in for these manually, I don’t see it as a drawback.
The vB software was written around IE and that’s always been the gold standard for them; they’re just not real interested in other browsers.
We’re also in a weird situation in that we have an older version of the vB software currently installed . . . but the most recent version of php. That has caused some of our oddities and hampered us a bit; however, we were forced to upgrade php due to exploits. I do not foresee changes in the near future; we’re pretty far down on the “to-do” list as far as the tech staff is concerned. I don’t anticipate us getting much more attention for at least a while.
I’m sorry that our changes have had a negative impact on you. I don’t know what else to tell you.
Yep, that’s how it’s supposed to work. Directly below and at far right of this very post, you should see, just to the right of the greyish-blue “reply” button, an unlabled icon that looks like a sheet of paper with an arrow (sort of like the arrow on a shortcut or alias icon). Click that and the text “Please click one of the Quick Reply icons in the posts above to activate Quick Reply” should disappear and your cursor should end up in the QuickReply box.
