Got into work to find my boss is busy with three other projects so I get to sit in a staff meeting for 90 minutes. Oh joy. I wouldn’t complain (I’m going to anyway, you know that…), but we have four other GS-13’s in the branch and I always seem to be the default ‘go-to’ guy when the boss is out or needs a fill-in. I’m flattered in a way, but dammit, I retire in less than 10 months, give some of these other folks a shot!!
OK, rant over. Refereeing under the lights tonight, U-10 Girls soccer game that was cancelled Sunday. Looks like it will be clear and in the 60’s (F), so things should go well. (famous last words for referees).
Arrrggh…just remembered I had my Utility bill to drop off and forgot about it, so will have to hit it on the way home.
It’s bright an sunny outside, and not too chilly. I can take the recycling out in my bare feet.

I’ve been craving shrimp lately. But boiled - that just hurts
I still haven’t picked out my new health insurance - I hate this stuff. Maybe I should just paste all the options to a dart board and choose that way.
I’ve kicked plenty of cars in crosswalks. Once even had to jump up onto a car that decided to just start backing up as I was crossing.
The update on DH is he’s still in the hospital, geting chemo on a long infusion. Depending on who’s arranging the acronyms, he’s getting DAR-EPOCH or DA-EPOCH-R. The “R” drug takes four hours on Day 1, and the “EPOCH” drugs drip in over three or four days. The DA portion means Dose-Adjusted, for which there will be blood tests at least weekly and probably twice a week for the next several months.
He’s feeling a bit wiped-out, which was certainly expected. Happily, the tumor is visibly smaller already. He’s just not looking forward to being transformed from a bear to an otter in about a month.
The porch is painted and am resting before going to work.
What I love about the place is there are several different jobs (inbound, sort slide, scanner, small sort, etc) and several different lines/lanes so you are rarely in the same place twice in a week. And they rotate people around so even if you are working next to the Most Annoying Human in the Company you know its just for one day and then maybe not for a month of more. This has worked very very well all year. Sooooooo ------ of course now they are trying something different; assigning people to specific jobs and places for the entire week. See, this way we build “teamwork”. :smack: Yeah ---- right. In a super-fast pace high pressure place like this fish and even your best friend are going to start to stink after 3 days. And I have the pleasure of being lead on one of the highest volume lanes under the roof. If this week passes without someone walking out or having a melt-down, I will be very very shocked.
I actually have things to do that must be done soonest, but my insides are in full rebellion and I feel like crap. Waaaah. I don’t want to be a grown up anymore.
Pizza night tonight. mushrooms onions and green pepper for me, no GP for him but replaced with ham…not sure where I’m getting it though!
The weather these three days, one in front and one behind has been unseasonable
Experienced more rude people at the jail yesterday…rude last week and rude yesterday. It’d be one thing if I came at them rudely but…no no no…jerks! Hopefully that will be the last time I have to serve a paper at the county jail. Diddly squat for the trouble too!
Laundry is almost caught up and trying to put the floor fans away for the winter has made a bigger mess than it was with the three fans out in the living room.

My week is now half over - yay!! My boss gave me a bunch of drawings to do today, and I got all but 1 done. I probably could have gotten that one done if the stoopit Windchill server didn’t keep crashing.
Today is my sweetie’s birthday, and the beginning of his last year in his 50s. He wanted a lemon meringue pie, and he agreed to wait till Firday when I’m off, because when I come home, I’m just too tahred to fuss with baking. Instead, I stopped and got some butter almond ice cream, so we’ll celebrate with that.
Still coughing too much, and I know it annoys my coworkers, but I can’t help it. Cough drops do nothing, tea helps, gum doesn’t. It’s got to be sinuses - I honestly don’t feel sick. But I am sick of coughing.

Today I bailed on my dentist appt. My face looks like someone hit me in the jaw from the tooth being pulled last week. I just couldn’t see cranking my sore jaws open that far today. So, next week.
Kid 2 is still home with bronchitis, but I think he’s going to school tomorrow. He still sounds like crap, but he’s energetic enough to get underfoot. This is my standard for “well enough” for school.
My Princess Pretty Paws held her water for almost 24 hours before she gave in and set foot in the wet outdoors. Silly dog.
Howdy Y’all! Day two of irk survived. YAY! I have also been shoppin’ with OYKW cause he needed a new phone. His died last night. He is now the proud owner of a Samsung sump’n other that he is happy with at least for now. Dindin consisted of, spoilered for flytrap’s benefit…
