I just found out that the person I’ve been seeing for a few months has been seeing someone else. It saddens me, though I’m not totally crushed. I just need to read a pick me up or two, and then I’ll be better.
You could always try the “Well thank fuck for that then, at least we’ve been equally unfaithful”. Not gonna help much is it. I just like to try and piss people off in that situation.

Ack - totally not my style, but rubes, hopefully it will make you feel better. I’m going through a pretty rough patch in my relationship with SO right now too, so you have my sympathies…
You can email me if you want if you just want to talk…thanks to Coldfire, I now have a hotmail address.
Rubes, the fluid state between sadness and disappointment that you describe sounds perfectly normal and expected in your situation.
What makes those feelings okay is the fact that you seem to recognize this is not the end of the world—merely a reaction to a stinging event.
So, you asked for a pick-me-up…hmmm…how 'bout this: Now that you’re a free-wheeling dateable guy, looking ahead to embarking on a new round of playing the field, just imagine all the hot babes at your disposal. This is your rest-and-recovery period…and what follows will be the fun and excitement of new experiences.
Who knows what fabulous people you have yet to meet? Who could imagine the incredible person that’s slated to enter your future?
Have one total ‘do nothing but feel sorry for myself’ day, and then move on with a smile. You didn’t say whether you had both agreed to date each other exclusively, or was that just what you ‘thought’ was going on. Either way, lots more people in the world and more experiences to be sample.

I’ve learned that if someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that no one will believe it.
