The pain wasn’t too bad: “Like when you’ve got sunburn and a cat scratches you. Non-stop. For an hour.” said the artist beforehand, which was very accurate. After a while the pain was almost pleasurable, and put me into a sort of trance. Afterwards I felt a bit faint (didn’t help that I am horrendously hungover - company Xmas party last night).
So when are you getting the next one? What’s it gonna be?
It’s a rare fellow indeed I’ve ever met that has gotten only one tattoo…something about the hum of the gun that draws them back in. (I’ve got 4 and about 5 more planned)
Congrats! Where’d ya get it (anatomical location)? Any good pics?
If you find yourself in the mood to check out some more tattoo/piercing related info, the best all around resource I’ve found is BME (Body Mod Ezine)
In actual fact I’ve been planning it for 10 years. But maybe the fact that I got it now is an indication of a mid-lifer… I’ve shaved my beard off too. If only I could afford a sports car and a 22-year-old concubine.
XJETGIRLX, that’s what the artist said - I told her I was enjoying the pain, and she said “you’ve opened a can of worms now. Soon you’re going to look like me” (she’s covered from head to foot). Location: upper arm right-hand side (boring but practical). No pics.
It’s based on the Vesica Piscis (“fish kidneys”) shape, which inspired the lid of the wrought iron, art deco Chalice Well in Glastonbury, Somerset, England. I originally wanted the lid design, but it was too complex, so I did my own version of it in Adobe Illustrator. Actually, if anyone likes it, mail me and I’ll send them the EPS file.
::Twirls non-existent moustache:: I say, princess, what a capital idea. Ding dong!
I’ve actually wanted to get a tattoo for a while now. I like the design you picked out. In [this site,](www.geocities.com/thorinbloodaxe69/ ravenhall.html) there’s a picture of it above the text “Odin’s Hall.” I’d get that design for myself for two different reasons: it expresses my strong ties to my heritage and also the influence of it on my personal belief system. When I’d get it, each of the triangles would be a different color: red, green and blue. If I ever manage to have the money and the guts to get it, it’ll be on my lower back.
Oh yeah tattoos are great. I got my first one in October, and I have more planned yes yes. I in fact decided I wanted one when I was 11, wasn’t able to get it until recently though. Very cool.
I really need to get a picture of my tattoo to put up for people because I don’t have a drawing of it.
Geez, it took me over ten years to settle on a design for my first one (celtic knotwork around my R wrist) AND to convince Mrs. Krisolov to accept it. I would love another one, but suspect it’ll be another ten until I settle on the next design…
