The fault lies with the tards who changed the rules to make the Pit more like MPSIMS, the tards who moved complaints about moderators to ATMB, the moderator tards who enforce tarded rules that make it a semifelony to say “turd” or “cunt” or “regards Shodan”. They are the ones who changed the Pit into MPSIMS II.
After the black and white rules are considered, what’s considered pitty enough is determined by the mods. This OP looks like a thinly disguised swipe at the current modding here - without the balls to actually say so. Of course, that would have to be posted in MPSIMS (where this belongs). As it is this is just another whiny rant to those who don’t give a shit about such things and have the good sense not to open “rants” about mundane things.
What I’m noticing is Giraffe’s lack of addressing the real problem here, the rules change that got us here in the first place.

That’s because he can’t start such a thread here in the Pit; such discussions now go in ATMB. And he did. It got dismissed as whining that we can’t call the mods bad names anymore.
Ok, point taken (I hadn’t seen that thread). Still, blaming the posters for acting on policy change is weak. If the current pit mods are OK with the topics OP’d here, then the system is working just fine. If Giraffe is not OK with it he should have complained in the appropriate forum. I feel his pain, but the fact is the pit will not be the “place where people [can] argue about issues they disagreed about or simply vent their frustrations about posters that were driving them up a wall” in Giraffe’s dream pit because the rules don’t allow things to be the way they once were.

I wasn’t here for this supposed Golden Age of the Pit. But I gather that Giraffe and ivn1188 are endeavoring to simulate its awesomeness here in this present thread. If so, all I can say it that the old Pit was pretty fucking stupid and I can see why people decided to dispense with it. And if “My life was better when I could call people cunts on the internet” doesn’t count as “mundane pointless shit” (which, pace the forum’s title, does not actually have to be shared with anyone), I don’t know what would.
Agreed. It’s not a lack of moderation, it’s the posters who open threads in the wrong forum that are the problem. It amazes me that long-time, even Charter Members, pretend not to know the rules and etiquette of the board.

They can’t simulate it’s awesomeness because the rules now prohibit some of what made it awesome and more importantly the posters that made it awesome grew bored and moved on. Now it feels like visiting the neighbourhood where you grew up and realizing how much smaller it is then you remember and a lot of your friends have moved away.

I disagree. While I of course strongly opposed (and still oppose) the rule changes, this thread is only about the posters who are getting on my nerves with their banality.
Some posters seem to want any and all changes to come through the mods – if there’s behavior you don’t like, there should be a rule against it or the mods should intervene to stop it. Conversely, if something is technically within the rules, then it’s OK. I thought that was pretty retarded when I was a mod here and I think that’s pretty retarded now. We all have a responsibility to make this an interesting place to post at, and that includes speaking up about things that are wrong. I think many posters have incorrectly interpreted the rule changes as license to post threads in the Pit that should have either been posted in MPSIMS or written on a piece of paper and then thrown away. I said so. Disagree if you want, but don’t assign hidden motives that aren’t there.

How stupid do you have to be to think this is about one word? If anything the pit died its final death around the time the normal use of butthurt and FOAD got a poster in trouble and suspended. Not the words but the arbitrary punishment for their use out of nowhere.
You are conjecturing from ignorance, try this instead as you can search, go back to pit threads over a year old and take a look. You’ll still see mostly garbage but at least you’ll see some interesting gems and some loud debates that were good.

The Pit seems to go up and down. In my two some odd years of not coming here, I have no idea what went on (no, I can’t read old threads, it’s against my religious bay leafs), but lately, I find very little to actually choose sides over, and my main reaction is but a mere “meh.” How I wish someone needed to take a dump in some self righteous person’s house.
