Yeah, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. So far, I haven’t encountered one response that I can be sure is real. But it’s only been a couple of days.
And how!
And there’s your problem. If you had a delicious pink taco in your pants wouldn’t you be distrustful of a really hungry person?
You send all the wrong signals if you want it too much. You have to crawl before you can walk. Try getting a date first. Maybe kissing. It isn’t easy as it looks!
Go out into the real world, and hang out at a library, coffee shop, you in school or working?
A job is another good thing.
I’ve gotta tell you, that’s the best explanation I’ve read in a long time.
My daughter is 29. The guys she dates are the ones she meets in her taekwondoe classes, in her anime group, and in her D&D group. New guys show up periodically in each group. When she was still in college, she tended to date guys who were in her classes or student social clubs, as well as the ones she met in anime and gaming groups.
If you have any sort of interest in a hobby or activity, find a group and show up regularly. Chances are that there are some single unattached women in them, and you have an excuse to chat them up.
FTR, you won’t find my daughter in a bar very often at all. She doesn’t drink, not because she thinks it’s immoral or anything, but because she doesn’t like it.
NO NO NO. If you meet a girl at D&D, wow, just wrong.
Meet girls at church, work, school. Not D&D. For the love of christ, don’t be one of those “I FOUND A GIRL NOW I MUST DEVOTE MY ENTIRE WAKING LIFE TO HER” people.
Of course, you are posting on CL to lose your viriginty while you save up for hookers.
So good to go, I guess.
I know, I just can’t resist, it’s like a gambling addict and the betting window. Just don’t be one of those guys. Go gay if you need to.
Well, she wasn’t always Mean and Old.
That is, perhaps, the best damn advice I’ve ever heard.
What’s with the Dungeons & Dragons hate? For a nerd like myself, picking up a girl into video games is fantastic. The best I’ve ever done was turn a GF onto Animal Crossing. But an RPer? Hell’s belles! I’d go out and buy the engagement ring the next day.
Not a LARPer, though. Those people are just weird!
What’s wrong with D&D chicks as opposed to work, school, and church chicks??
Ugh. This is like a whole pit thread that would move me into total asshole territory (if im not already).
Gamer girls have a set of personality traits (generally) that put them, for me, quite far into the realm of people I would not like to carry on a long term relationship with.
I’ll make you a deal. If I combat my borderline alcoholism and this thread has gone nowhere but discussing gamer chix, I will lay out exactly why they are annoying.
Are they any worse than girls you would pick up in a church?
Yes.
Let’s chalk it up to personal taste and be done with it. It isn’t like we need permission to date Girl X or Guy Y. Unless X or Y is one’s kid, in which case you’d better be a damned Rhode’s Scholar with a PhD and MD.
Hmm. I mean be flat out shameless about it.
Attention ladies. Virgin bloke for the taking. This is your chance to get back at manhood. Call 555-1234
Just because you don’t need permission doesn’t mean I can’t condemn your taste. I mean, the Duggers are breeding like crazy, but do we should I accept 18 or 19 or however many kids out ther advancing the fundie cause?
The chances of that not working are exactly nil.
Maybe this was true in the 80s, which is when I started gaming. However, I’ve run into quite a few younger women who are into gaming, and I don’t think that they all have similar personalities. Of course, I was not thinking about them as girlfriend material, as 1) I’m a hetero female and 2) they were too young. They did have a couple of things in common. Most of them were quite intelligent, and all of them were assertive and didn’t take any chauvinist shit from the guys in their games. For a certain type of guy, I can see how that would be offputting.
They try, and are usually successful.
Yes I was.
Can I be both understanding of ivn1188 and think he’s a complete tool at the same time?
While I love my wife, who I met on a blind date but who’s a gamer not quite as avidly as I am, the women one finds at D&D sessions tend towards two broad types:
Type A, rarer: As Lynn’s daughter, the kind of woman who sandwiches D&D between taekwondo and other pursuits, that is, a typical gamer who does both gamery and non-gamery things.
Type B: Of the three new girls in my gaming group in the last few years: One is a shut-in who plays by Skype. One is an angry virgin who thinks all gamer men are scum and is looking for a white knight to just randomly appear, apparently, because gaming is her only social outlet. One is a charming, well-spoken virgin woman who’s looking for a nice Christian man who’s into bloodplay, BDSM, and vampire fetishism. In short, the type who are kinda odd in every respect.
Nonetheless, ivn1188, it bears saying that you, in general, are such a gigantic assclown that you transcend assclownery and are, in fact, the ringmaster of the three-ring ass circus.
To address the OP: You will never find anything on Craigslist Casual Encounters, because everyone there is a scammer because enough guys in your shoes are clueless enough that they sign up for the scams.
Point your ass in the direction of OKCupid and/or AdultFriendFinder, or hell, find a swinging club in your area so at least when you’re chatting with some chick at the bar you KNOW she’s there to get laid.
