For a lighter, less consequential example of the same behavior, wow, he’s clearly a fan of boarshead products.
It’s almost impressive how comprehensively he managed to be wrong about both Hawai’i and Texas.
He’s always, without exception, extremely and stubbornly wrong about anything historical. That’s his trademark.
Usually it stems from his reading a single book or article by a contrarian historian, and taking that as the gospel truth because it fits what he wants to believe.
His holiest gospel historical truth: the US never ever did wrong.
When a pit of any individual reaches thousands of posts, one wonders what those individuals are really thinking. Do they feel shame and embarrassment at being the object of that level of ridicule or, much like a school shooter, do they revel in such an elevated level of attention? I guess the answer varies by individual though, if someone is the object of more than one pitting, I have to vote for “attention” rather than “embarrassment”.
Nah, I think in DrDerp’s case it isn’t for the attention, but he’s a genuinely jingoistic, racist know-it-all contrarian and a prime example for the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Yeah, I think that’s right. He simply refuses to listen to reason.
@DrDeth is a fountain of misinformation and falsehoods, often doubling and tripling down on nonfactual claims and obviously specious arguments. He is especially profligate in this thread but it is a general truism that wherever he posts there will be a string of easily fact-checked errors and unsupportable assertions. From whence does he source his broad array of fabulations? WikiPrank? GPT-4? Facebook? PIDOOMA?

What bugs me most is that he delivers his “facts” in a convincing manner—details, context, dates, etc. Then ten people come in with some variation of “that is 100% wrong,” with cites to support it.
That’s why I always look to see who’s posting. I realize in isolation that’s a logical fallacy, but it’s much more efficient to assume certain sources are wrong.
But with a pleasant vanilla aroma? I’ll admit tone is difficult to gauge sometimes online.

I imagine our OP is aware of his Guest of DisHonor’s longstanding presence here in the Pit. Generally for the same sorts of fake facts, unwillingness to back down once caught, and just general pig-ignorance once a mistake has been made.
