Isn’t that junior modding? And even if it isn’t, isn’t it rude to tell another poster?

Yeah, I thought the same, you can’t make up your own rules about your own thread and then scold people for breaking them. But I was too lazy to report it as junior modding, did you?
Like I said: he wants a discussion but not there. He knows he could get in trouble for hijacking his own thread.
Then why not open a thread and say, “Hey we are discussing it here.” with a link?
Mods hate when I report things.
No snark, no condescension, but sincerely, good for you not reporting it. Even though I think you would have been justified. It’s awesome that you refrained after the mods cautioned you.
This is the Pit and all that, but screw it, I don’t think it’s out of line to say that I think you’re a good poster in general and I’m glad you’re not doing stuff that could restrict your posting privileges.
(That doesn’t mean I don’t disagree with you or even get pissed at you at times but overall I’m glad you post here.)

If you have an issue with the board’s moderation, the appropriate place to bring it up is ATMB. Not the Pit.
Do not do this again.
No warning issued.

Evidently he has no problem with discussing Europe during WWII there. With a book to back him up.
Mein Kampf?
A Bridge Too Far, which he can’t be arsed to capitalize correctly.
Never been happier that I don’t read IMHO. I’d imagine he’s been cribbing his notes from Colonel Tsuji, no doubt. You know, that great Pan-Asianist and proponent of Gekokujō, who incited the border war with Russia in 1939, planned the Japanese invasion of Malaya and was such a true believer in Japan’s noble goals in the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere and the especially the Co-Prosperity part that he embraced all Asians as brothers. Oh wait, sorry, scratch that last part. I meant personally planned the mass murders of ‘anti-Japanese elements’ in Singapore and Mayala in the Sook Ching and took part in the Bataan Death March including personally overseeing the Pantingan River massacre.
Oh, and ate an Allied airman in Burma. But I guess that was ok since they were either American or British.
But if you read his memoirs on the Malaysian campaign, he leaves all that nastiness out and just talks about what a noble goal of making Asia for the Asians was. Practically a civil right movement, not Asia for the new Japanese overlords.
Possibly the dumbest take about the Pulitzer-prize winning graphic Holocaust novel Maus I have ever seen.
I disagree. It is bigoted as it shows Polish people as pigs. The poles suffered terribly due to Nazi persecution.
I can’t believe I need to say this, but, in Maus, every nationality is a different animal. Jews are mice. Nazis are cats. Americans are dogs. Poles are pigs. And IIRC, French are frogs.
Do you get it? It’s a literary device. Or do you think Spigelman means to imply Jews are timid, filthy animals?
The book is an explicit and resounding condemnation of bigotry. I can’t even with anyone who would take that work in bad faith.
I heard the novel also depicts animal nudity. Is that true? Disgusting…
That’s why it got banned in Tennessee.
Mouse titties! All this over mouse titties!
I said I didn’t want to derail that thread so I’ve held my peace since that post but the accusation that the Poles are portrayed poorly as a people is a weird one. Some are jerks and/or working with the Nazis, some are obviously motivated by fear and preservation and some are heroically brave or kind, sheltering or even saving Vladek & Anja’s life on several occasions. Likewise, many of the Jews act out of community but some take advantage to extort others and some betray the characters. Stating categorically that the Poles are shown negatively feels like not actually doing the reading before making a statement.
Gosh, DrDeez not actually reading something he’s citing as support for his indefensible position? And an actual reading of it says the exact opposite of what he claimed? That’s just wild and totally unlike him.
Oh wait, sorry, I meant that’s exactly like him.
I think mice have 10 of them, that’s pentuple pornographic!
While set during WWII South Pacific was actually written in 1949. And a mighty fine musical it is, too!
Not that it makes the decision any less stupid, but both characters in the panel in question are drawn human.
