I wonder if it’s time to re-exmine my pit thread from 4 years ago about phony apologies.
I do find it a little disturbing that Frank Stallone has thoughts and then people know about it. We should fix that.
Do you want to solve the supply problem or the distribution problem?
Correction. Michael Flynn the Elder is the fucking traitor. Michael Flynn Jr. is a disgusting sniveling fucking junior asshole. It’s easy to get them mixed up because they’re both fuckers, and they are in fact both assholes, but they’re not the same fucking asshole.
And the crazy thing is that in 2016 it worked. The sexist, racist, and/or homophobic (it was a big tent in that sense, you could be any one or all of 'em) and those apathetic about those issues, came out and voted enough to gain the electoral win.
Agreed that many who began to take certain cultural shifts for granted during Obama’s years have now realized how fragile the gains had actually been.
I think the distribution problem, because the other kind of solution might be a little, uh, distasteful. Ted, on the other hand …
I’ll blame them for not voting if you’ll take responsibility for your generation fucking everything up. Trump is a Boomer. Sessions is a Boomer. Pence is a Boomer. Bill and Hillary Clinton are Boomers. You all act like the world is your plaything, and you’re in control of everything. the 2016 election is (hopefully) the Boomers’ last gasp of influence. your parents’ generation blew so much smoke up your asses that you honestly believe you’re the best thing which ever happened to this world. the Boomers haven’t had their WWII, so Trump and Putin are doing all they can to rekindle the Cold War. Everything that is happening with the US Government is an enormous Boomer temper tantrum.
meanwhile, Medicare and Social Security are being drained by your obese, diabetic, hypertensive asses. We’re going to be left with a pile of shit, and you assholes are doing all you can to blame us for the pile of shit you dropped in front of us.
Amazingly enough a large amount of what is good and bad in this world and country in particular has had the involvement of the large cohort now aged 54 to 82ish.
But no question we old farts have screwed you young farts over. We stay healthy and work longer … instead of retiring and opening up spaces for those below us to advance into. And we retire and suck off of the Social Security teat. We get sick but because of medical advances (mostly accomplished by other Boomers) we are impolite enough to not die so easily. (It must be noted that more of you are obese, diabetic, and hypertensive, than we were at your ages.)
Seriously dude, the world is a constant work in progress. I don’t blame you or credit you much for the shape of the world as it is, good or bad … yet. Good and bad (and there are both) have indeed been mostly my generation’s watch. I see some major positive moves compared to what was before us; you may not. Think we’ve done a lousy job or a great job as you will. But making it better or worse from here? We aint off the field yet but increasingly it’s got to be young farts at bat.
The millennial cohort is even larger than the Boomer one. That is a lot of power if you exercise it. If you don’t and crap happens that could have been avoided if you had … well then you own the crap as much as the specific Boomer in who got elected does.
It must also be noted that Boomers are in no small way responsible for the pro-business sugary/processed/etc foods (including the now recognized as ludicrous food pyramid) and increasingly sedentary suburban lifestyles that led to those conditions and are only recently being reversed, so that’s another thing to be dealt with.
It’s a bit late for Gen-Xers but the Millenials and the (whatever we’re calling the current generation) give me hope for the future, though they may be taking things too far in other ways themselves.
One thing I do disagree with is the idea that Medicare and Social Security are being “drained”. They aren’t being drained, though they will be in trouble if we don’t do something in the next decade or so. But I do agree the Boomer generation’s collective political intransigence is the only reason those programs are even that close to trouble.
Younger voters outnumber the boomers. If you fucking voted, then the boomers you blame wouldn’t have been able to do anything. This is your fault even more than the older generations. Trying to evade your responsibility by blaming it on others really is a non starter. You fucked things up just as much.
Asshole.
typical Boomer blame-shifting. “It’s not my fault! It’s YOUR fault for not stopping me!”
Vow, I’ve never noticed this guy before, but he really comes out as an idiot…
Stallone or jz78817?
I just smile when I read stuff like this. Li’l Bubba, the world wasn’t a utopia when we boomers got ahold of it. We didn’t start WWII (and its associated nuclear weapons), we didn’t start WWI (and its associated unprecedented firepower that earned it the name “War to End All Wars”). We didn’t invent the Industrial Revolution (and its associated pollution, leading to climate change). We didn’t cause extinctions of the dodo, or the mastodon. But we had to deal with all that, just as you have to deal with what we did.
Sure, we’ve fucked up a lot. But we’ve done a lot of good too. As has been mentioned, we’ve helped increase lifespans (which will most likely benefit your generation, and your children as well). We’ve helped keep those nuclear weapons in check, so not since 1945 have any nuclear bombs been used in war.
Your generation grew up with the internet. My generation invented the internet.
I said in a previous post that it’s up to your generation now. It’s your responsibility. Every generation of human beings does great things, and does stupid things. Every generation has to both learn from the past, and learn for themselves. It’s not as if your generation is starting from scratch. You’ll learn from us, both the good and the bad.
The bottom line is: The pressure’s now on you. Don’t fuck up the world, because guess what sweetheart? At some point in your life, a younger person will be telling you to get the fuck out of the way. So just remember what you’re telling us now. And what will you tell them?
It’s your own fault for picking him up in the first place. And you’ll need this <passes SteveG1 a barrel of antibacterial hand gel>
Flynn Jr may well have been saved from being measured for an orange jumpsuit by Daddy falling on his sword. It’s bad enough that he promulgated that insane Pizzagate theory. And neither of the Flynns are in any position to be commenting on other families’ parenting techniques.
Hey, I crafted it very carefully so there’s plausible deniability, and you think I’d blow it just like that ?
An IMHO thread to actually discuss how the Boomers have done at the wheel. Feel free to join in!
Evidently he was smacked enough.
