And you would be wrong, wrong, and wrong. Well, I am a lady, but only in the literal sense.
Oh, and how. I usually miss out on these train wrecks because I’m not paying attention, and by the time they reach a hundred gazillion pages and have spin-offs all over the Pit and ATMB, I’ll be fucked before I sift through that kind of shit show. I caught this one early on. Yay me! And it was hil-ar-ious!
Unless you post a picuture of your vagina sitting at a computer while logged into the SDMB I ain’t buying it. And that pic will also make one cool assed avatar.
Let me rephrase: “Anyone opening a successful “Ask The…” thread” There are, of course, those who only think they are interesting.
A letter out of the blue? I’d wonder how I got on the mailing list. But reading about such a person online, sure. Look, here’s one:
I’m not an expert in male attractiveness, but that guy looks pretty handsome to me. If he was funny (and alive) should he not have posted here?
And I’ve recently seen stories on not one, but two legless amputees climbing Mt. Kilamanjaro
I’m not surprised by the disabled doing extreme activities anymore.
So, it doesn’t really strain my credulity in the slightest that a “cute sexy paralyzed skydiving funny quadriplegic” might exist and might post here. Lots of funny people post here. (And that can’t really be faked). cute paralyzed skydivers exist. It’s the similarities to sezyoo, a known faker, that are really the crux of things. The mods thought there was enough of a pattern there, so be it. I don’t really even care all that much, I just keep getting sucked back in for some reason…
You know, for someone who stakes a lot of his reputation on his knowledge of probability, this makes you seem especially weak, RT. I said it was probable that **Umkay **was in league with **Notokay ** and you signed up with the forces of Dumbth to assert that it wasn’t so.
Now that it turns out to be demonstrably so, you’re choosing to re-assert how right you were in assessing the odds as you did, and to claim what? That the people who turned out to be correct just happened to get very lucky that one time?
Maybe you don’t know nearly as much about probability as you think do? Or you just can’t help behaving like an overbearing, condescending prick, despite being as wrong as wrong can be here? Maybe you will reconsider some of the ludicrous scenarios that in the past you have vouched for the probability of?
Please tell me the odds on each of those outcomes. I can’t wait to learn some more from your expertise.
This is the fallout, despite her being “merely” an emotional predator. It raises a cult of personality on the board, and those enchanted fight tooth and nail to support her (with zero real evidence), meanwhile some others might look on with suspicions as the enchantment increases (with zero real evidence), until it reaches some amount of critical mass, and the inevitable happens:
Some of those that got sucked in, feel embarrassed, and some of those that were outspokenly skeptical are now assholes. And those who couldn’t give two shits are here for the show as things get more personal on the board, pointing fingers for all the wrong reasons.
Some get suckered, it happens to everyone, including myself sometimes, and some feel the need to shove everyone’s face in it.
The thing is, a good con artist is just that - good. They make an art of duping people, so why are people so surprised when even the intelligent and even some of the skeptical are fooled?
It doesn’t make fraud and trolling OK, of course, but that is after all what frauds and trolls do. Apparently, this one did some excellent research, has prior experience, and no doubt is already moving on to the next message board. This person wasn’t just some hack or kid, this was someone who is actually thorough and good at hoaxing. Meanwhile, certain parities have their panties in a twist over it. I’m just glad there was no asking for money, assistance, etc. Emotional there has been some cost, materially there has not.
And if I in any way helped Sami41 with Popsicle then I’ll just console myself with some good coming out of the mess. And hope this person sticks to posing on message boards rather than pulling something like a financial con in the real world where the impact could be much more significant.
I stopped paying attention to the avatar discussion, installment 735. I checked in once and I think I saw something about an av greasemonkey script? If so, that is *so *my avatar. So.
Let me see if I understand this…the similarities are what makes her the same person on two boards, but the differences are what makes her untrustworthy?
Is it possible that the similarities are coincidences and the differences prove there are two persons?
Is there the slightest possibility that confirmation bias is at work here?
Naw, that was funny and I guess I was sorta whooshed (or maybe you just went cazy there for a bit). I was trying to figure out if you were actually bitching that we could NOT prop her vajayjay up and take a pic (missing the important fact thay my suggestions was a joke).
Hey, that Catfish guy turned out to be mostly true in the end. Or was that the movie Big Fish? Very good movie BTW.
