I Pit NotOkay for convincing the entire board umkay had died!

I don’t think you or anyone else should feel foolish. You believed the best of someone. And consider too that this is the umkay person’s well-honed “profession.” People who get taken by a con man should remember that they are really up against it with a person like that.

I think not suspecting the umkay thread means you’re probably a person who has the morals never to be dishonest in such a way. Congratulations, and honored to know you!

See, now that’s what I’m talking about when I said there should be proof in the form of slip ups in tone and phrasing. Exactly. That’s all I wanted. I’m finally 100% convinced. Good finds, Crazyhorse.

And smart, too!

No, no, no. Thats a philanthropist whore. Which is a sympathy whore with money to burn. Which is alas not I.

I can’t believe I bought it like that. I bought it for the exact, exact, exact reasons outlined by bricker. My thought pattern regarding the timing of the whole final week and a half was the same.

I feel dum.

tapu is a babe. but sorry about the sneaky edit.

No. Because there was that one post where she said something like, “Hey, how did NotOkay blow it anyway?” (very bad paraphrase). Which made me think she wondered, for next time. Next board. How to give it even more verisimilitude.*

*I like this word 'cause it rhymes with my user name

Exactly. On all counts.

And I love this board more than ever, because even the board drama is smarter, funnier, and more interesting than anywhere else.

I strive to stay out of the Pit and I really do feel for everyone who is angry for being taken in - I was too, but Damn - what a ride! This has been one of the most amusing message board roller coaster of twists and turns that I have witnessed, which really isn’t saying much because I can’t say I am an expert in all things internet.

But I am into a good story, and this whole train wreck has been a sight to behold.

I just wanted to thank everyone who played a part, and to say to anyone who feels personally betrayed or whatnot, please don’t take it personally. We’re all just strangers on the internet and there are a lot bigger problems in this world than being fooled a troller for sympathy.

You have to stop. You are absolutely going to kill me today. Between this and “Please hand over your keys,” I am on the brink of death.

I’ll be having the jumbo plate of crow, and I would like my two sides to be crow and crow. With crow sauce. I will start with the crow soup and wash it down with a giant glass of crow.

Yikes…how totally stupid I feel. Live and learn and I’m sincerely grateful for those who got to the bottom of this.

I hate to do this, but that bolded bit is ballsy as hell. There’s no way I’m reading through 200-odd posts to find it - do you have a cite handy for that, or a general idea which of the threads it was in?

Here:

Gratzi.

ballsy is right…

Crow and crow, what is crow?

To be fair the way that was said is more like “Duh, gee what was it that might have tipped you off??”. Sarcastically to show how obvious it should have been that the death notice was fake.

I still give even odds that the troll who posted the fake death notice was actually working independently.

Curses, foiled again!
Dammit.

See that three button remote control?

I dunno. That’s what I had been thinking at first too, but now I’m starting to wonder if “umyoo” didn’t maneuver this whole shindig as a test in order to try out the “stupid death fakeout and recovery” trick. It’s a hard thing to pull off, but if she gets it, then for lots of people, she’s not a troll, she’s the VICTIM of a troll, and how can the victim of a troll be a troll herself? It’s the perfect smokescreen for people with soft hearts.

So with that in mind, umyoo has her very personable self, does all her postings, does a “trial disappearance” with the convincing not-really-that-serious-except-it-could-be illness.

Comes back from that test and realizes that people know when you’re logged in, logs that for reference, and then notices a convenient poster getting pesky and subsequently banned.

Boom, convenient absence the second, the creation of “NotOkay” intended to be “fake but only in retrospect” so that the majority of people are taken in and mourn her passing. Which is why she’s worried after the fact about how people thought initially he was a troll or a faker - she *wants *people to think that, but not until much later after she’s triumphantly returned.

That way, when umyoo comes back, she can point to how stupid the NotOkay post was, feel superior to everyone, get all the “yay happy” reunion, and then string people along for a good long while longer with more and more outlandish shit before finally having the big cathartic “ok now we’re serious she’s really actually dead this time” post from her already-mentioned brother. (Remember how she specifically wrote out what he’d be more likely to say instead?)

I’m serious - she had me at first, and then with the two disappearances and the NotOkay crap, it all went downhill too fast here for her to really enjoy. I’m betting she’ll use everything she learned here to find another board and play the whole thing out for solid.

Two requests:

1)Pass the apple pie
2)Pass the chocolate ice cream
