You are correct because while acronyms and initialisms are written with all capital letters changes occur over time. Some, like scuba and modem, become so common that they become words. Some, like Landsat and Conrail, are proper nouns written with initial capital letters. Nazi would be another example and in speech NASA is also pronounced as a two syllable word word rather than spelt out.
